I've noticed on some of the games that I have there are different head bolt sizes 9/16 and 5/8.

Some of my games have a mixture of both it seems.

So is there a set size for certain games by years or by the game. Does anybody know?

I think Bally/Stern are supposed to use 9/16 throughout, but williams and gottlieb used 5/8 for the legs.

I believe that Bally, prior to merging with Williams in ~1989 used 9/16 while Williams always used 5/8.

Classic sterns were 9/16 but a smooth head like a hardware store bolt

If anyone has 8 9/16 bolts for sale let me know. Thanks

These are the correct Bally SS 9/16" leg bolts. Often they are replaced and mixed with 5/8" leg bolts.

Which vendor is a good supplier of the Bally 9/16 replacement bolts? Anyone know? I did some searching and found them in black, but I don't want black.

Yeah I had the same problem. I posted an ad here on pinside an a fellow pinsider helped me out.

    How many do you need??

Well, I have 4 machines. I put the black ones I purchased in the rear and moved the other original ones up front. I plan on painting my legs this summer to the original (well, close) Bally gray and then replace the bolts. Mine are beat up; not rusted. I'd like to find something close to original. Seeing how the coin door and the rest of the front of the machines do not have anything black...black bolts are out.

I have never found one. Dont think they exist. Most people just put the modern William's 5/8
    Or used original's.

Sandblast the originals and nickel plate or piwder coat them.

Problem I find is most Original are stripped and have bad thread damage.
