Trying to finish up my KISS game but having an issue. I can start a game and it will kick the ball into play and everything seems to be playing correctly except that when the ball drains the trough switch doesn't realize it. I've cleaned the switch and checked for continuity, it seems to be working fine. I noticed that the diode is snipped off so I replaced it. With a new diode the game will not start at all and pressing the trough switch turns on various playfield lights.

I traced both the wires off the switch and tried to check their diodes along each switch they are connected. I also checked continuity from both wires to the mpu. By the way, I'm running a new alltek mpu board.

I can't find a switch matrix that tells me what switches are related. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Maybe you put the diode on backwards?

Verify that when the ball is sitting in the trough, the wire actually pushes the switch contacts together. Like was said above though, it sounds like you put the diode on backwards.

Thanks for the matrix! I checked the diode.....I put it on the way the original was installed. I also checked the trough switch on my Mata Hari to ensure I was putting it on correctly. I guess I could reverse it and see what happens??

After that I will follow the matrix and check/replace all the diodes in the paths up and across?

I checked with the ball to make sure good contact was being made. I also held it closed with my finger.

If you put the diode in correctly don't reverse it. I would try removing the diode you installed and seeing if the new problems persist. See if you can get yourself back to square one.

Figured it out. I had a short. One of the bare wires under the playfield was making connection with the drop target bank. Just luckily saw it!
