I have a similar setup on my Supersonic. Ball save = coil activated.
Mine was really dirty, everything was dirty. I disassembled everything, cleaned it all and the action improved.

Do you have a straight edge or a metal ruler? Check the shaft to make sure it is not slightly bent. Also, you could replace the plastic bushing. Last thing I would suggest is some silicon lube or dry graphite lube. Put some on a small cloth and just put a slight wipe on the shaft and place it through the bushing. Work it back and forth and then reassemble.
I own 1 Supersonic and rebuilt (then sold another Supersonic). Mine I had to lightly shim the mounting screws for the coil assembly where it attaches to the plate assembly. It would bind more than not. After shimming, it was fine. The other SS I fixed up and sold needed nothing but a decent cleaning. That gate worked as it should without any tinkering.
Quoted from adamtoth:Thanks, did you just put washers on the screws between the bracket and plate? That's a great idea, maybe bringing the height of the arm up will help. I'll also try the graphite, think I have some left over from the kid's pinewood derby many years ago.
Yes. I used thin shim washers I had on hand. Regular #6 or 8 washers are too thick as I recall. The bracket screws are short. Tinker as needed.
