Hi. I have an old Chicago pinball and when the ball hits the pop bumper, the pop bumpers go black, stop registering points or hits.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

Find the pop-bumper relay and manually activate the pop bumpers to see what works. Does the relay activate anything - if not - work backwards using a schematic. You could have a bad coil, bad wiring to the coil, dirty parts, a problem with the pop-bumper relay or no power to the relay, a bad coil in the relay, someone disconnected some wiring, etc.
Best to disassemble and clean pop-bumpers after you find your problem. They work much better.
Thoroughly clean and adjust the contact points on the 10 point relay and 100 point relay. Also, inspect and clean the contact points below the pop bumpers. Look for breaks, shorting on the pop bumper lamp wires under the playfield...
I cleaned and tinkered with all bumpers and all minus one is working.
Then one is still acting up.
When the ball hits it, all lights go off and it says game over. The metal ring does not activate. It's just when the ball hits the skirt.
