Hello Rolf. It appears the power cable was wired incorrectly by using the white/neutral going to the fuse and black/hot going to the transformer lug.
Perhaps the power cable was changed from a two wire version to the three wire grounded type sometime in the past.
So the fuse is on the neutral line and the switch is correctly wired to the hot line. (as long as the power cable end is a molded plug)
