Hello again!

I'm now knee deep into my first rebuild as a total noob and I have discovered an issue where flipper buttons are adding 10 points to the player score. Not each and every button push, but probably a solid 80 percent of them. It registers the points on the power to flipper and not when the flipper coils return on release of the button. My first line of investigation will the selenoid diodes. On that note, is there a ref. voltage that I should expect while checking them on the test bench but remaining in circuit?

I will step through that testing while waiting for some insight.

One other thought, I just replaced all of the bumper rubber and I thinking that maybe one of the sling shot bumper switches might be less sloppy now and making contact due to vibration of the flipper action?

thanks in advance for any and all thoughts and input!

I'd go over every switch and figure out which one(s) score 10 points. Then check the gaps on that switch. Slings are probably a good place to start.

Check and targets or anything that scores 10 points. You have one that needs adjusting.

To eliminate which 10 point switch is making, put a piece of paper or a piece of shrink tubing between the blades, activate the flippers, then remove the paper one at a time until you find which one is closing from vibration. Like mentioned, I would check the slingshots first.

Thanks everyone, that did the trick! Also, as a bonus, I discovered a very decayed solder on the pos. side of the HiPo cap when i pulled the solenoid board. It left me with strobe flickering displays until I found it. The axial lead was literally floating inside an old solder crater.

Thanks again to all for bumping me in the direction of realigning the field switches!
