Picked up an Eight Ball on the cheap that has sat idle for who knows how long. Replaced SDB(weebly), MPU(weebly), Power Supply Board (repined connectors).

Boots up fine. On game start the score starts counting up by 1k somewhat erratically. Outlane kickback, pop bumpers will not fire. I go into Solenoid test mode, all Solenoids fire appropriately, including outlane kickback and pop bumpers. I go into switch test mode and it pops up with 0 (I believe this means 0 switches active). Test all the switches, they all seem to work appropriately. I go thru switch test mode a few times and notice that very occasionally and briefly #34 flashes which is the left outlane switch. Check switch, looks to be gapped appropriately and cannot find anything obviously wrong with wiring in that area. Disconnect switch from wiring and problem goes away.

There is a capacitor and diode on this switch. Could one of these going bad cause this switch to be acting up this way?

Cut a leg off that green disc capacitor and I bet your problems go away. If it does, you can play with out the disc cap but the game might miss a very fast moving ball and not fire the kickback. You can replace the disc cap if that is a problem to increase the sensitivity back to factory specs.

That did it! Thanks

Very common fail for those old green disc capacitors. Order a bunch of .05 or .047uf replacements and replace as many as you can as part of your rebuild.
