So, finishing up on a project bowler and wondering what to do about a noisy ball lift motor (E-119-125, I think).

Is it common practice to open up the gearbox to clean and lube everything? What is best practice when it comes to servicing motors like this?

Thanks for the information. This particular model does not have a chain but rather a belt. I disassembled what I could (did not open up the gear box), cleaned and lubed everything. Also added some spray lithium grease to the gearbox. Quieted things to an acceptable level.

    Quoted from RonSS:

    Nice looking machine!
Mopar had mentioned to me to check the bottom roller the belt mechanism as well.

Thanks! Will never be a museum piece but it cleaned up pretty well and is a lot of fun.
