So I'm working on a captain fantastic. The first ball kicks out after startup sequence. When the ball drains, 2nd ball not kicking out. I cleaned the ball drain
contacts and no issues there. Wiring good. What to check next?

Is the bonus counting, then no kick out or does the bonus not count down? I ask because every now and then mine does that. It is not every game, but every now and then, a drained ball will not count bonus and go to the next ball or player (in multiplayer game). I've checked schematics and traced and cleaned all switches associated with this process, but it still happens. It went away for a few months, but popped up again the other day. And on mine, if you activate something that causes vibration, like a bonus advance or drop target while the ball is in the outhole, the bonus will then count and go to the next ball. See if that does anything. Do you have schematics?

EDIT: You linked the Bally home model. Is that the one you have or the EM commercial game? My advice is about the EM.

Hey, yes this is the commercial version capt fantastic with coin door I'm working on. There is no bonus count. When the ball drains the game just stops. The 2nd
ball never kicks out. I'm starting to wonder if it's the bonus count.Where is the bonus count unit for this game. I'm wondering if it needs to count first before
it kicks the 2nd ball into the trough. Will it always bonus count even if you don't hit anything? When I start the game the ball will launch into the trough. If I take the
ball and drop it between flippers without scoring. Nothing happens. The ball just sits there.

Actually I think you're right about the bonus relay. This must be energized after the ball drains. Apparently after the ball drains, the bonus relay adds points and
de energizes when complete. The outhole relay then energizes which I'm thinking is when the relay kicks the ball out. Seem right?

Yes, the bonus will count after any ball that hits at least one switch. If you were to plunge and drain without hitting a switch, it should kick back to the shooter lane. Bonus unit is under the playfield. If you haven't cleaned and lubed that, I would start there. The bonus relay is in the back right on the bottom of the cab. Hard to reach, but make sure it's switches are clean and adjusted, as well. Did you try activating a switch that causes the bonus to increment while the ball is in the outhole?

Yes I activated the switch that causes the bonus to increment and I was able to get the ball to kick out. The more I activated the switch, the center lamps would
go up and eventually the 15 amp playfield fuse would blow. I guess I have to start by cleaning the bonus first. It may be sticking. Do you have pdf schems on this
machine? I'm wondering what switches on the bonus relay on the bottom of the machine should be normally open and closed.

On the bonus relay, only one is normally closed. The very top switch. Make sure it is clean and adjusted so you get the wiping motion as it activates/deactivates. All the others are normally open.

Ok so the bonus unit advances to 1000 on power up. So that’s good. Here's my bonus unit. I can advance it manually. However after advancing to about 3000 bonus, the play field lamps 15 amp blows. Very strange issues going on here. I'd like to correct the issue with the ball trough not kicking out the 2nd ball first if possible or maybe it's the same issue. Still stumped as to why the 2nd ball will not kick out, is is the bonus unit? Bonus relay? Outhole relay?

This is now fixed. It was the oddest thing that I’ve had to fix just to get the ball to eject into the ball trough after the first ball. The fix was to adjust the switch contact for the target down relay (Green/red wire) to the closed position. I followed the wire from the ball eject contact (Green/red) down to the target down relay which is under the playfield below the ball eject. Closed the contact connected on the target down switch which connects to the green/red wire contact. This cured the problem. Pics of the green red wire and the target down relay are posted. Hope this helps someone.

This may or may not have had anything to do with that, but it looks like one of the screws in the switch stack in the top picture is backed almost the whole way out. It’s right there in that same area you are talking about.

Interesting.. I'll check into that.
