Hello,
Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting issues with this Bally Campus Queen? The moment it is plugged in it does as seen in video. Fuses tested as good, all lights are on. Flippers cannot be moved during this start up. Score real do not reset but stay at zero. Blue sparks seem to be coming from Start relay.

If I set the replay unit to 25 credits and change the score wheels to not zeros. It doesn't roll the scores back to 0's and it stays at 25 credits, and it just hums, you can't start again or use flippers. Then I power it off and back on again replay unit goes to blank no number showing number, scores roll back and then it does what is seen in video, nuts. I will check the coin switch again.

I'm still checking the relays for any that are stuck.

Can anyone tell me what this is for. 120 AC switch, which has no play in it and can't move, looks to be wired into this relay by the previous owner with a red connector. A manual power button? If it is stuck I should probably replace it. It doesn't seem to improve or worsen the current problems though if I have it connected or not.

It seems it the switch is hooked into the anti cheat relay. Signs were so hidden I didn't noticed them (or look too well ). So why the button, I thought maybe it was a power button hooked up wrong since it wasn't on the power. The original button that was installed is broke stuck in one position. I assume it needed an on/off but maybe it is a stay on. Or why not just wedge anti cheat closed?

If the anti cheat relay is tape closed. I get player 1 thru 4 to light up but then gets stuck here with coin unit and tilt unit going. So different result than earlier. The motor doesn't sound great. It slowed down and stopped about 30 sec after video. Not finishing start sequence so no targets or flippers operate.

Hi
I don't have the schematics not that I have learmed how to reat them yet anyway. I think the Bally Gator uses the same schematics according to ipdb.org but not sure if this is accurate. I looked up the Bally start sequence. The relays all seem to be tagged with text in english (not german thankfully). The relay bank all has labels. Interlock relays I'm not really familiar with, it has a relay labeled as a hold relay.

There is no start button on the underside of cabinet. When I plug the machine in, it turns on. Left flipper and right flipper never are able to trigger I assume because machine never finishes start sequence. There was a button, newer than 1965 looking but broken, that was tied to anti cheat relay, hacked in. I wedged the anti cheat closed although that didn't help.

I found a broken solder point on player 1, 100 point and a broken contact switch on player 1, 10 point. Contact was in bottom of machine. I repaired both.

Previius Owner has the credit wheel labeled with 3 star stickers a blue a red a silver. If I put credits on the wheel it will take the credit wheel back to the silver star always. Don't see any sign of free play so unsure what was going on here.

I will check all the slam switches. I was looking at them today but need to have another look.

Broken solder point and broken off contact blade. Various photos.

So the coin door tilt switch was closed and it should be open I think. I opened it. The other tilts are open on playfield underside and bottom of box. There doesn't seem to be a tilt on the back box.

I think the screws are missing from the tilt. It loops like there would be a screward in the bOttoman of the board to hold it up. There is another tilt in the bottom of the cabinet that has a screw. The door and a tilt and back of machine has a hole where a screw would be.
Left flipper button has an extra wire green that right flipper doesn't have.

Got it playable, ball kicks out, flippers work. Points are randomly going onto all players though. Score not resetting. Lots to do yet.

Thanks Rolf for your ideas.

Hi

I got it working. Combination of the missing contacts/solder on player 1, 100 and 10 points and stuck tilt on coin door as you pointed out to check for.

Last issue is 10 points are not incrementing on any of the score reels for players 1 to 4. It was adding them constantly non stop so I backed it off and now not at all. Need to have another look. There is one slingshot that won't register points as well. Overall not too bad.

Otherwise game counts through players 1 to 4 correctly, tracks ball count right, ends game correctly, starts and resets scores on next start up. I put it in free play with an alligator clip jumper. These issues being corrected seemed to have addressed the odd credit wheel setup and use of a red blue and silver sticker that the previous owner put on the wheel.

Starting onto aesthetics now as well, replaced all the back glass bulbs and under playfield bulbs. Need to pull off the old rubber and replace and new lights under the plastics.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

I knew where the 10 point relay was as I had over adjusted it to try and compensate for it running constantly. My over adjusting caused it to lock on I think. I have since reversed these changes this morning, and now see that it may be incrementing in groups of 5. ie: 10 points, 10 points, 10 points, 10 points, 10 points, pause, then 10, 10, 10, 10,10, pause. Taking your idea Rolf about a lock on and it running always opened my brain to realize...so there is a missing mushroom pop bumper, worth 50 points. Since the mushroom bumper is missing, the contact is always up (open) causing 50 points to trigger each time. I can't test this right now, but that is my theory. Pretty sure the mushroom bumper when down closing the contact, so no points, when the ball pushes it up, it lifts off the contact and so is open and registers 50 points.

Will have to check the kicker tonight. Mushroom, missing in photo.

Yep that was it. Missing mushroom bumper was closed causing constant 10 points x 5 to be registered. I used adjustment tool to leave it open until replace mushroom arrives. This in turn caused the kicker that was not working. It was a 1 point as was another it turns out, to not register as all the effort was going to register 10 points over and over. All points work now.

Fixed.
