I am working on a Bally Bow and Arrow em machine and must have created this problem by cleaning the Player Up Unit.
I am pretty sure this was working correctly before I cleaned it, but I not positive.

When I play a 1, 2 or 4 player game, the Player Up Unit is correct.
When I play a 3 player game, it allows a 4th player. The Coin Unit is set on 3 players, but the Player Up Unit will advance to Player 4.

I have attached a picture of the unit. I don’t know if I have the Cog on in the correct place or not. The picture is at Player 1 position (note the switches are open).

The schematic is here: https://www.ipdb.org/files/362/Bally_1975_Bow_and_Arrow_Schematic_Diagram_continuous.pdf

Anybody have an idea where (else) I should focus my attention?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

I'd first make sure the wipers are aligned and making good contact on
both the Player and Coin Units.
After it finishes Player 4, does it reset to Player 1? If not, check if the
Player Reset Relay is energizing..

Thanks Mopar .

The only thing I see that may be a problem is when the Player Up Unit resets, one of the fingers looks like it has been sitting on 2 contacts. You can see a little scorched area between the 2 contacts.
I would think this would be messing up player 1 somehow and not giving player 4 in a 3 player game.

Like I said, I think it was working before, but I may be wrong. Don’t usually play a 3 player game.
That is the only time I’m having a problem (is on a 3 player game).

Yes, you are right, but it looks like the wiper board should be turn counter clockwise a hair
so that one blade is more squarely on it's proper rivet. I'd maybe first do that..
So the Ball Count is resetting. Does it reset properly when playing a 2 player game..

I put one more turn in the spring and that made the contact move over a bit.
Yes, it works fine on just 1 player or 2 player. It’s when I do 3 players it also gives the 4th player a turn. Only 3 players is displaying on the back glass.

And the Coin Step Up's wiper, board, wire tabs, ect. looks okay.
The Coin and Player Units work together to tell the Player
Reset Relay when to energize..
I'll check the schematics if need..

Well, I looked closer at the Coin Unit and there was one finger that was a little suspect. I took the wheel off, bent the fingers in a little, cleaned the board and it looks like it is working like it should. I went through playing a 1, 2, 3 and 4 player games and that seemed to fix it.

Thank you so much Mopar , I appreciate your help with this.
