On my Bally SilverBall Mania, There is one wire bundle in the back box that is covered in electrical tape. When I first saw this I was annoyed because I thought it was just another hack job by the seller I bought it from. But having seen many pictures of this machine, and other Bally's from the era, I see that this seems to be normal.

So why is this wire bundle taped?

to stop it getting caught in the door?

Same on Viking and vector. I assume it's door related strain relief
