Make sure the coil is properly wired. Usually a burned up transistor is cause by reverse wiring to the coil. 43v bus must be on banded diode side. If reversed transistor will violently burn.

If wired correctly and transistor is still locking on, look upstream to the 3081 chip which may have a bad port.
