Quoted from Nighthawk128:Hi All,
I think this might be the best group to run this Medusa problem by because it's beating me up and I've taken some steps to solve the problem to no avail. One day out of nowhere (allways the case) the lights and sound died during a game. Fuse F5 on the rectifier board blew, put a new one in. Blew again.
F5 is for General Illumination, Seems simple. I pulled the rectifier board and replaced the bridges because I falsely suspected a short on that board due to a reading through a resistor.
Knowing the board was OK I put it back in, noted the wires leaving that board associated with fuse F5. Mostly unplugged narrowed down to 2 wires, Red w/ brown stripe and White w/ brown stripe. Started the machine and it actually had sound (squak and talk). Plugged in the one connector and shut it down because as expected F5 started to glow immediately.
I tried to follow the two wires to the backbox, get lost easy but if I unplug ONE connector next to the lamp board hinge which powers the GI on that board it fires up, but no sound. Strange. Of coarse the lights don't light up
I can't find this short, it's lamps and sockets that light up while the fuse glows for those seconds before blowing.
Are any of you guys aware if the GI circuit is related in anyway to the Sound board? Have sockets ever been an issue in the past where there is a full blown short? what should I look for.
Also all the capacitors were replaced in this game about 6 months ago with lots of hours of gameplay.
Thanks guys!
Spencer
Doesn't the S&T get it's 12v from the GI? Anyone? Vid?
