Quoted from Flippersaurus:

Anyone know of a guide to re-pinning/re-working the connectors?

I replace the connectors one wire at a time. Make sure to key the connector so they can't be plugged in wrong. I use a Dremel tool with a wire brush to remove oxidation from the header pins.

This guide is pretty good. Make sure you have the right tools and make a few practice runs before cutting into your game wires.

Just discovered this club so I'm posting this here in the hopes it will help others with similar issues.

Also, these guides have been invaluable for me. Everything you need to know is covered here.

Quoted from balzofsteel:

Looking to replace a flaky volume control on a Stern pin but they neglected to put the value of this part on the schematic.. in the game manual... in the Stern Game Theory Book... or in the parts book.

Could somebody please measure one for me?

These guys might be able to help you

I've been putting these on all my 2518s. They work great.

Quoted from Coyote:

How long does a charge last? The only reason I've been staying away is I don't want to lose settings if I'm out of the house for a week or two on vacation and can't turn the games on.

I've gone a few weeks between power ups and had no problem. It would be interesting to measure the voltage over time to see how much it changes.

Quoted from Methos:

Where is the best place to buy replacement bulb sockets for under the playfield? I swear half of the ones in my Viking don't work.

Check out Action Pinball.

Quoted from calico1997:

Quesetion: Regarding that one bulb socket under the playfield of my Centaur that acts as a fuse or whatever; does that socket need to remain as a light bulb or can it be converted to an LED along with the rest of the game lighting?

From Pin Wiki: http://pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bally/Stern#Solenoid_Expander_Board_.28AS-2518-66.29

There is a 555 bulb near (or sometimes not so near) that lights when the solenoid expander is activated. This bulb is essential for proper operation of the expander as the main opto isolator chip (MOC3011) on the expander board needs a load to work. Neither Centaur nor Centaur II use this bulb.

If you have a bulb connected to the solenoid expander it should be incandescent, LEDs draw much less current.

go through sections 4 and 5 and follow those recommendations.

Check your connectors for continuity. They are notorious for causing problems. I ended up repinning all of mine.

Also this is a good resource

Quoted from Epistaxis:

Got a bally Lost World awhile ago and was wondering how you get it set to free play?

This is what I use. Works well.
