So I'm working on a Xenon and 2 of the displays are acting up. So I reflow the headers and hook up 1 of them and it seems repaired. I hook up the second one and it is repaired and working right, but it dragged down the first one and every lit segment is flickering at about 2 beats per second. It's like only half the segment goes out and then it relights.
I suspect the connection at the MPU, but no, when I swap displays, the flicker stays in the same display.
So now I'm thinking maybe the voltage is low, but no, it's at 240VDC. I try to adjust it down and the pot falls apart. No big deal. I replace the pot and set the voltage to 180VDC, but no happiness. Now my question is if the display glass is cooked or if rebuilding the display board is worth the try. It seems like the flicker only happens when all four displays are connected so I'm thinking in might be a bad resistor? Could one bad component make the entire display so shakey?
TIA for any helpful advice.
