I am trying to trouble shoot a Bally TruckStop. Bought the machine not functioning. Got it all working except for 4 lights. The lights not working are:

Sling 68 J13-10
Spot 64 J11-02
Xtra 37 J13-04 (extra ball)
Spinner active 28 J10-06

Now there were some wires cut for some reason on the playfield. When I tried to reconnect them I got some weird results, so I thought let me trouble shoot from the board down to the socket, starting at the board and it’s connectors.

I “thought” I could make a simple light socket tester and cycle through the individual lamps to test if the pins on the MPU were fine. I made on with a socket, diode and two alligator clips. I connected one end to the TP1for voltage and the other to the individual pin I wanted to test. Light comes on when machine boots but never flashes, etc....

Must be doing something VERY basic wrong here.

Any advice on how to get my test harness to work so I can test individual pin outs on the board?

Side note. I know this crazy board has some sort of cycle phasing to double the number of switchable connections. Wondering if that has something to do with my simple apparatus not working.

Thx. Was hoping to see if anyone can validate what I am attempting to do using a socket, TP1 and connecting to the various Pins listed above to test. Should this work and I would be able to see them flash properly?

I pulled out the solenoid driver board and inspected it. Sure enough, there were quite a few connectors that visually showed solder cracks in them. I reflowed all of the boards connectors and, for the moment it plays fine. Will need to put a few games on it and let it sit running for a while to see if this was The issue. I included a photo of what one of the solder joints showing it cracked.
