Hi All,

Admittedly new to restoration and troubleshooting here, so I appreciate the help a ton in advance. I'm currently working on a Bally Special Force that I got in pretty rough shape. However, the interesting thing is now after fixing the sound, workign on the playfield, LEDs, I've had several more errors pop up that weren't there when I started. Any help being pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

1) The left half of the keypad isn't working (but it was when I got it). The right half (and it literally is pretty much half and half) seem to work. The "65" buttons and enter work...so I was able to factory restore. No dice.

2) This one is odd. On bootup, I'm getting several errors (outlane, inlane, multiplier) that read error. However, in the game, as far as I can tell, these are all working. Again, these errors didn't flash when I first started working on the game. I did replace some caps control board....thinking I may have inadvertently screwed up the EProms in the process. Does that sound right?

Appreciate any guidance you have! I'm an English teacher, so this WAY out of my realm. However, I enjoy reading and learning, however slowly it ends up being.

I’m not sure about the EPROMs, but lots of the switches have caps on them and when they go bad they can create switch errors on start up. You may want to replace the caps on the switches just to see if it helps. It can’t hurt as if they aren’t bad now, they will go bad one week, one month, one year (you get the idea) from now.

That’s weird. Perhaps the connector or wires going from the key pad. Have you tried repinning them? Or perhaps checking the schematics to see if a common wire or set of wires would control the left half?

Hey there! Got a moment?
