I'm helping a friend with a Paragon. The game worked for several months, but now won't start up. I've checked voltages and all look good. The header pins are clean and the connectors look new. The socketed chips are tight with the good kind of sockets and I see no evidence of corrosion. Here's the different boots we've observed today:
1) Slight flicker of LED, then nothing.
2) Full LED flash Sequence, then flipper power turns on but no displays and only partial insert lights. Game frozen.
3) Full LED sequence which repeats 1 or 2 times before freeze
4) Full LED sequence which repeats once then a triple knock (happened one time)
5) Full LED sequence which repeats once then the flipper relay chattered until we turned the machine off.
I always found good voltages at test points, and couldn't find any kind of pattern manipulation of the board that affected the results.
Any thoughts?
I thought that maybe replacing the header pins and sockets all the way around might be a start, but I hate to use a shotgun approach.
Thanks for your help-
