I have a weird problem with my TAF.

I bought a replacement shooter housing B-12445-3, even though
it should be B-12445-4, as B-12445-3 was available at the time.

Can it be that the shooter housing differs so much that I cannot use
it with the TAF and therefore the shooter rod's tip hits the ball on top of it
and not in the middle?

Or should I try to lift the playfield e.g. by installing a couple
of washers under the brackets that attach the playfield to the cabinet under
the lockdown bar?

I have tried to choose the location of the shooter housing, but I cannot get it any
lower than it already is...

Any tips are very welcome!

You can loosen the screws and move the shooter rod housing around a bit. Be sure your playfield hanger brackets aren't bent out of shape.

The shooter rod housing is in the best possible position - "as low as it can get" and it still hits the ball in the head.
It might be that the brackets are all worn out... I guess a couple of washers between the bracket and the playfield could do wonders - I do not know what that would do vis a vis the level of the playfield though...

Could someone btw please let me know the part number for the support brackets... I guess it could be anywhere in the manual, I could not find it with a quick look...

Hey mate,
I have the exact same problem as you, I have TAF I bought a new shooter rod spring sleeve and all didn't fix the problem, I put 2 nuts under each of the brackets and it didn't fix the problem, I'm almost tempted taking the nuts off that I put on and taking the shooter rod out and making the hold for the positioning bigger with a file or the drill but I don't want to kill the machine or hack it. From what I can tell my old shooter rod had been bent so it could hit the ball, it appears this has been a problem for a long time. How did you go? any luck yet?

Three washers x 4 under the brackets - that helped. Then I installed a piece of foam (which you usually stick under the legs of furniture to protect the floor) under the low portion of the shooter housing that is located outside of the pinball machine. That way it bends the shooter rod to the right position. Works just perfect now.

Have a look at the picture I made with my astonishing graphical skills The foam is highlighted in red, it barely shows there, but I think you can notice it.

thats basically what I was thinking, shim the bottom of the shooter to get the whole thing pointing more downward.
a bit of wooden door shim might be wide enough to make it in one solid piece. if the shooter tip cant hit the ball with the wedge shim in there, remove the tip and put a washer or something inside there to extend its reach a little. the three washers x 4 was to raise the pf a little? it'd help get things in line no doubt. stacking 3 washers can be a hassle, can thick rubber washers be glued to the pf or brackets instead?

Yes, exactly. It's not problem to install the three washers there for each screw, the screws are long enough.

So I ended up using a round file to file out the triangle hole in the wooden cabinet to give it a little but more room for adjustment. Pit it all back together and it works a treat now. Thanks for the tips guys
