I'm very new at the pinball world so please bare with me.

I have a WPT machine. I've played it for a couple of months now. It seems like when I first got the machine, when the ball would enter the lane that passes the rollover to the flipper is really speeding up. When I first got the machine, it seemed like the bumpers would always slow the ball down somewhat before they got to the rollover but now sometimes the ball passes the bumpers and rockets through the lane over the rollover and I barely have enough time to hit the flipper before the ball is lost.

My question is....what is normal here? Should the ball always be slowed down by the entry bumpers? I assume the rollover never gives any slowdown resistance. It seems like the ball is going through faster and faster as time goes on. Does that mean the entry bumpers need to be replaced? How do I know?
