Hello
I have a 1969 Gottlieb Target Pool machine that the start solenoid fires during the game (the solenoid that kicked the ball to the plunger area). It is an intermittent problem but is getting worse. I happens when some thing on the play field is activated. Usually the pop bumper or one of the kickers. The main motor bank will then also rotate. Sometimes the game will go to game over during play but only on the last ball. I removed the play field and score area board and found nothing obvious wrong. I'm going to next remove the main assembly (the one inside the cabnet) to see if the issue is theresolved. Everything else works great. Any help with resolving this issue will be much appreciated! I'll let the group know if I find something on the main board. Thank you.

Check the switch in the outhole. It sounds like the contacts are gapped too close and are touching due to vibration during game play. That would cause the symptoms you are seeing.

That switch should only be closed when the ball is sitting in the outhole, pushing down on the switch blade.
