Hi there everyone,

Unfortunately have found an additional malfunction with my Tales from the Crypt, even after getting it back from the pinball tech shop >

The ball release coil is getting stuck after engaging, resulting in no further balls getting ejected into the shooter lane (be it a new ball or multiball etc) - see photo.

I've tried spinning the rod and rotating the spring but it seems to do no good and after a few engagements it just locks up again.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
- Vic

The coil wrapper looks like it may have early signs of heat stress (locked on). How is the sleeve and if you remove the coil is there any friction when moving the plunger in and out of the coil?

Where is the return spring?

I've found the problem!
And bare with me, as this is coming from a purely newbie perspective in fixing machine problems, something I hope to improve on as time goes by. But I'm happy I was able to fix it on my own - with some help from you guys (;

chad you were right, removing the coil was the key. There was friction between the rod and the bracket that keeps the coil together (photo attached). I removed the coil and its bracket, reassembled and held it in place a bit while I re-tightened it with screws, and the friction was gone. Fired the ball release coil in diagnostics for a solid minute to ensure it wouldn't revert and it didn't.

Thanks for your help everyone!
