Someone earlier suggested using self stick felt for the ball shooter and to place a round piece of the same felt over the screw. I did both, not one stuck ball in over 100 games and the factory balls have hardly any wear.

Overanalysis paralysis... just put on a round black self-adhesive felt dot the size of the screw head...done...no need for duct tape, leg height adjustment, post rubber rings, etc. Has been working without hang up on both an LE & a pro now for a couple hundred games.
