I would like to lower the power of the shooter-lane ball-eject coil on my TWD. It blasts balls into the lane like a cannon. On SPIKE games, the coil power can be adjusted down 'til the ball is ejected but not blasted. I find no such adjustment in any of the SAM Service Adjustment menus. The only thing I found was a non-specific "coil power," which I did set to low, but it has no effect on the shooter lane coil.

If there is no adjustability in the menus, is there a mechanical fix? I mean, does it make any sense to shorten the throw of the coil's plunger? Will that effectively reduce the power of the plunge? The plunger has a stop on the end, so why not put, say, a half-inch sleeve spacer on the plunger, resting on the stop? That would limit the throw of the plunge by the length of the spacer. The plunger's return spring would need to be shortened to accommodate the spacer. Horrible idea? I realize replacing the coil with one of lesser power would be the prudent solution, but if there's a feasible work-around, I will happily try it.

Thoughts?

I'm going to assume that you recently acquired this machine...

With this in mind, have you confirmed that the correct coil AND coil stop are installed in the machine?

Hi, Pin Guy.
Thanks for your reply.
The game is a recent arrival, yes. I don't like the violent ball eject and would like to change it before I bruise the lane. I do have Cliffys there, but it pounds the Cliffys. The machine is unchanged from the factory, apart from a few mods. So, yes, I can confirm that the coil and plunger are factory.
Based on the coil's specs, what replacement would you suggest?
