Considering adding a few of these adhesive mylar squares to a 2002 stern playfield (RCT) to a known spot that is prone to wear as a result of a scoop eject (luckily mine has not yet worn). Anyone have long-term experience with using these...benefits/drawbacks? I couldn't find any threads that address these specifically but if one does exists we can delete this post. Thanks for any/all insight!

Stern adds them to most of the latest games themselves.... Clean the area thoroughly, and if you want the mylar to come off easily at some point in the future apply a light coat of wax to the area before application.

Thanks! Yeah, I see them selectively on my GZ playfield. Good tip on the wax...I wasn't sure if having a wax layer underneath would completely prevent the square from sticking or not.

Done it myself, haven’t had them peel up yet on route and it’s been a year.

that's great to hear...was hoping someone using on routed pins could chime give a report.

I’ve had playfield swaps done in my TZ, Whirlwind, and AFM. All get Mylar around the pops and under any ball drops. It’s cheap insurance, and I honestly forget it’s even there. I doubt they’ll ever get enough play in my possession to ever warrant the removal of them in my lifetime, and I’m a younger guy obsessed with preservation.

That looks good on the Carousel. I have no experience with restoration. Found a divot in the middle of my Mando playfield today, about 2mm x 5mm. I have not noticed any other issues with the PF. Would a dab of dark gray paint on the wood and then cover the spot with a mylar ahesive square be an acceptable fix? If anyone can point me to a how-to video for this, I would appreciate it.
