2 options with ebay dealings:
1. deal with this sort of crap/hassle and live and learn from it and move on
2. don't buy stuff on ebay

- you are lucky its just $6 and a gal or 2 of fuel you are "out"... THIS IS A NO BRAINER.... You definitely made your point and POINT WELL TAKEN, (thanks for calling him out) ... that is, "careful dealing with classicarcades on ebay" GOT IT!
