How do you access the lamps that are under the 50k - 20 Million jackpot marquee and the TOY marquee that sit at the top of the back of the Bad Cats playfield? These are 555 bulbs secured by locking plastic connectors on the backside. Removing the marquees doesn't work because there's no way to grab the bulbs to pull them out. Raising the playfield puts this section way down into the cabinet so you really can't get to them that way either. I tried reaching around from inside the cabinet bottom but that was a bust.

I raised pf and reached back there carefully.

The holders are too tight when I reach underneath, can't even get one of them loose. I certainly don't want to break something so I may have to remove the playfield from the swivel hinge to get to them.

I had the same issue on my Dr. Dude. I ended up having to pull the playfield to change them.

Not ideal but they did this a lot on the System 11 games. Riverboat Gambler is the same way.

Yeah there is no shortcut. Before stripping down the playfield...get some new rubbers to and give it a service while at it...

My millionaire has those same lights back there. While changing them out, with pf raised, a wire came loose for them so I had to take out the pf to resolder it.

It’s a pain and heavy to do solo. Get a friend and go slow. Straight up and out and there won’t be a lot of slack in the wiring. You can lean it up against the cab.

    I believe
    My old link shows how:

Thanks everyone for confirming what I was thinking I would need to do. This would have been the last step in my cleaning, installing new rubbers and converting to leds. I've had the machine for about 10 years now.

The good....none of the 555 incandescent bulbs are bad under the marquees.

The bad....nobody else is around to help with the playfield removal due to covid. I'll live with that section not being converted to leds for now.

    On tight wegde base sockets,

There is a square nub on them to use a small crescent wrench, 4" wrench.

Set the wrench gap on another one somewhere in the game.

    They loosen counter clockwise.

You can do it blind. They stick from age.

It doesnt hurt them to apply a little force.

If one breaks due to age brittleness they are easy to get.

Reinstallation can be done by hand usually.
