Quoted from djblouw:

Rest assured, Bynx is working as much as he can on your game. But he’s kinda lazy and likes to nap a lot. So I end up doing most of the work.
[quoted image]

I got to meet Bynx today, and he’s indeed been quite busy…this Bad Cat is nearly finished! Great work, DJblouw! We installed Radcals today, and the new, fully populated playfield is going on next. Let the testing begin!

For a friend - looking for Bad Cats Linear Target Assembly (B-13016) and Linear Target Opto Board (C-12935). No luck in the usual places. Thanks!

So I was curious if anyone knows where I can pick up a "Pherocious Pheline" version of the back glass or if anyone out there happens to have an older used one they wouldn't mind selling? I love the game and I've kind of given up on the idea of being able to find one myself but I'd sure like to get a piece of it. I have a speaker Grill and a few random parts

We’re these actually made? I have the poster but I didn’t think they actually did a real glass. I could certainly be wrong here but I have never seen one. I’d actually be interested if someone like CPR made them.

I thought I saw one online just a few years back but you know it might have been a poster now that I think about it. I remember I did it on it but it went much higher than I could afford at the time

Congratulations! And I've been looking for one even at a decent price and I can't get it. You will no doubt thoroughly enjoyed this machine

I played 3 games on my Bad Cats tonight.

Not bragging, but out of 20+ late model pins... that game just gives me so much pleasure playing. It's so simple, but so many long satisfyingly shots, they're very challenging and difficult to make to 3-5 times in a row.

I really enjoy the simplistically, but very challenging (oxymoron I know) aspects of the game. The animated backglass is icing on the cake too!

I think I am now a Schroedinger ‘s Cat member of the club - simultaneously both a member and not!

After 8 years of looking, I’ve finally purchased a Bad Cats of my very own - Woot! BUT!

I’m in Florida, and it currently is at my parents house in Ohio. I’m planning on flying up this fall and getting it shipped down. So… I own a bad cat, but I don’t have it in my possession (yet!)

Seriously, super excited to get this. This is the last of the perfect trifecta for my idea game room.

Yep, thanks! Went with Radcals on this one. I’ve done 4 pins with Radcals and just restored a Doctor Who cab with decals, my first experience with full cab decals (I replaced the decals on the head of my Shadow a year ago). Both have their pros and cons!

I think I have a flakey switch on my game. Going to try and dig into it this weekend. Anyone happen to know offhand what the 5000 point switches are? Often a game will start with 5000 points.

The drop targets and the dog house. (Not quite off hand but close enough )

Just got a Bad Cats and love it! Has anyone had an issue with the ball hitting the plastic that’s above the shooter lane? Happens all the time and is really annoying. Sometimes we have a hard time getting it all the way up the shooter lane and have to try 2, 3, sometimes 4 times to get it all the way up.

I’ve tried adjusting the shooter rod up as high as it will go so as to hit the ball in the center in hopes of the ball not slightly lifting off the wood and hitting that plastic; didn’t work though. Maybe I need to raise it up more so it hits it up a little higher on the ball so there’s a little bit of downward force? Maybe my spring is incorrect? It is red, however I believe it’s supposed to be the green one.

Post a picture of your shooter lane. Never ever has this happened to me. I would think either your plastic is warped or you have too strong of a spring on.

Plastic isn’t warped; it’s brand new. Came with red spring in it; I happen to have a green one I can try. What color is in yours?

Here’s some pictures and a slo-mo video:

New playfield? I’ve done a few and haven’t seen it on this title but you can try also assuring shooter knob and the two meat curtains at the ball apron shooter cover. That can also make a big difference in how the ball is hit.

Yes, new playfield. So what part are referring to exactly?

I replaced the spring with a green one I had, which turned out to be the correct spring for this machine, and it shoots without issue now. I will continue to monitor the next bunch of games.

The meat curtain/fingers that the ball rests against. Along with adjusting shooter housing, ou may need to bend these in or out to get the desired results.

Debating on selling my Bad Cats. It was super hard to find so not 100% it is a good idea to sell. Curious what others think.

Everyone looking for one is going to suggest you sell it. Really it all is on you. Have you played it enough not to miss it if you could never replace it? I had one on the list for a long time and lucked into one. It is just such a family friendly theme that I don't foresee selling. Just a quirky, silly, fun game.

So if the game was called Good Cats then maybe she would have been ok with it. (If she hates cats)

Yeah, it took me a while to find and plus my cabinet is stenciled, not decals.

No she just loved the game play and call outs!

#837 1 year ago
Quoted from wackenhut:

I wouldn’t. It’s easily the game with the least going on in my collection, but the combo of sound effects, music, fun, and the fact I was playing the same machine as a child at a family friends which is where I got it from make it a permanent no sell for me.

#838 1 year ago

I stumbled upon mine on accident and I’m not even a cat person but I would only trade/sell if a crazy offer I couldn’t refuse presented itself (a tommy or like 5k maybe? lol)… as others mentioned you’ll most likely never find one again and its a great game when you’re looking for some simple fun.

#839 1 year ago

I have a pristine Tommy, but that one will never leave. I love it way too much! The only thing that bothers me is that I do not have an original power/driver board. The gentleman I purchased it from did not save it when the tech put in a rottendog board. If anyone has one or comes across an extra please let me know.

Debating on selling my Bad Cats.

For all it's worth, I have begun working on a home ROM for Bad Cats. In addition to bug fixes my current plan is to implement a Ball Saver, make the 20M shot an earned shot, and make the Jackpot a per-player or per-game value. I intend to put the changes on game settings so the owner can chose which ones to play with.

I only recently bought Bad Cats (in May). Initially I was not overly fond of the game play (too much ramp looping), but then I changed the setting so that the Goldfish ramp has to be qualified with drop targets first, and that completely changed the game for me. I now play it like a drop-target game, which is what I believe it was meant to be. I frequently complete the Jackpot, sometimes multiple times in a single game --- the post-Jackpot background music is the best! I think that in my home ROM I'll enable the 20M shot after scoring a Jackpot, a 5M Fish Bone-Us reward, and getting an extra ball.

Very interested in this! Have you, or do you plan on, fixing the trash can bug and the lack of a status report bug? Also, would you consider selling said custom ROMs to Pinsiders?

Absolutely I intend to fix any bug that I can find. However, there already is a status report. It's called "Cat Scan". In contrast to most other games you have to press both flipper buttons to activate it. For distribution I intend to do the same I did with PEMBOT (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pembot-no-relation), which means that I'll publish a patch that does not include original WMS code.

#845 1 year ago

There is also a bug if you start a game while the GI is flashing at the end of a prior game you lose the skill shot.

Ok, that works. Is it possible to change the “cat scan” to be the single button on the right, so it matches what the apron says? I never even thought to hold down both buttons, LOL. I will definitely check that out.

I cannot replicate this issue on my game. Which version of the code are you running? L5?

Quoted from interconnect:

The game designers chose to implement the Cat Scan differently to what had been done before. While I cannot be sure why they did that, I am guessing that it may be related to the fact that the Cat Scan does not interrupt the display when the player cradles a ball, which is what happens with the traditional implementation. For me, details like this give a game its personality. I love the style/personality of Bad Cats too much to want to change it.

I get your point about the printed text on the apron, which I also don't like. However, Bad Cats is full of misinformation. There are lies printed on the plastics (you don't have to qualify the ramps with the corresponding drop targets) and on my game the instruction card is also wrong (you don't have to complete the bird targets to enable the 10x Fish Bone-Us multiplier). Maybe there's a market for another home ROM that agrees with the plastics and instruction card...

#849 1 year ago
Quoted from idealjoker:

I cannot replicate this issue on my game. Which version of the code are you running? L5?

I am running the ROM version L5 in my game and it is totally reproducible on my machine. When a game is over you have to wait until the backbox GI starts to do the seizure inducing flicker. If you start a game then for some reason none of the lights will show for the skill shot and you can never it the 2x bonus on launch.

If you press the start button when a game ends before the backbox GI flashes or after it is complete it is fine. But if I press start during that sequence then no skit shot for the first ball of that game.

I had helped testing you PEMBOT code (which is awesome) and will be happy to test any new code for Bad Cats or help with coding in any way. Maybe you can leverage some of the 680x code I did for the Bally Backjack that I updated.

Ok, fair enough. You guys have mentioned, and I have also seen on ipdb, the latest ROMs being "L5" or "L-5". My ROMs say "LA5". Is that the same or a different version?
