Parts are trickling in at a really slow drip. The last of the coil wrappers showed so the mechs are all done less drops (waiting on new decals). I have 4 packages stalled since Saturday via USPS. I now see why Pinball Life is only shipping FedEx.

Wrapped up the tiger ramp with new switch and ultrasonic’d wiring dry to install.

Flippers are installed and used orange Pinball Life perfect play rubber. I can put on clear or red too if they want. With the orange bats I thought the orange looked best. They do have red and black rubber that can be used too.

New micro switches are in. There’s 11 total which include one for each ramp.

The lamp harness is laid in. The non-stranded wiring used for lamp jumpers is a mess. They’re super fragile. No big deal as there was some speaker wire repairs on the GI. I’ll fix it using new wire.

Note there’s two GI holders that need stapled. They’re at the 3 drop target.

It’s a bit of a rats nest at the moment. Will be cleaned up as the rest of the soldering is done.

Wired for sound.

The new ball trough walls and floor came in so was able to finalize them.

Stapled down the two GI lamp holders by the 3-drop targets.

Most of the soldering is done including repairs to the broken GI wiring. Still have the pop lights to wire, clean up and solder along with the the drop target assembly.

Test fitted center/seafood ramp. Added a clear post in the new plastic as seen in the pics. The old plastic doesn’t have this but didn’t want the random hole that’s present in new plastic and it help supports the ramp.

While there, I heated up to bend the plastic for the wire form. Heads up: these ramp’s “L” bracket holes are too small to accept the wireform so they need drilled open to fit.

Mylar was added under ramp flap for some extra protection.

Unfortunately the small ball trough “wall” won’t work on this title as the roof they come with is too low. No one has this one so I had to reuse the original. If anyone has a good source for the non roof style, please let me know. This works fine but just doesn’t look great. You won’t see most of it but...

Riveted the “Collect Fish Bonus” sign and clear the clear plastic by the wire form ramp. Using screws whenever I can unless there’s an issue with clearance that necessitates a rivet.

Blackbeard recommendations, the drop bar sent was wrong so I had to use his method. It works great.

More plastic bending. Ralfie’s dog house was pretty faded!

Added Mylar at now both ramps and the return lane drops for protection.

With the custom drop ledge installed, I was able to install the 5 bank drop. The 3 drop will have to wait as they sent out the thick top drops which are too big to worn on this. New thin tops are on their way.

Tiger ramp is test fitted and in place. Top side is mostly complete.

Tested the GI after fixing the breaks and replacing the speaker wire. All looks good so far.

Added a flex LED for the Fish Bone Us saucer.

Most of the last parts are now finally installed or completed: flipper switches/capacitors, adjustment of all the pop bumper switches, top side switches, and clean up of the wiring.

Few pictures of the bottom mostly done (sans 3 bank drop assembly) and the top side switches.

Later this week it should be in the cabinet for testing.

Nice!

I’d consider stripping that trough wall, sanding and just painting or clear it to replace the zinc protection

#64 11 months ago

Good call. I have to do something with it. I was really hoping I could find a new one as I have in the past. I have this Steel-It paint from a friend that looks good and is durable so that will likely work after prepping.

Inserts all working testing on rotisserie! Karolina was getting bored supervising.

One last check of all the GI running both strings at the same time. I needed to replace the connector. I used IDC as didn’t have any 7 pin trifuricon housings. I think it will be fine especially with LED’s. The interconnect board is new BTW.

It looks great lit up and the orange pop housings really “pop”!

We’re off the rotisserie. Buttoned up the rear wall and a few screws that you can’t get to when it’s on.

I put on a new apron rubber. Seems they’re always gone. Here’s the part number (I need more myself!) for anyone looking.

That steel-it looks terrific ..In your experience how does it hold up over time? I really like the look it gives the metal

I honestly don’t know. Friend used to work for an industrial company traveling the world and they used it. He used it for some corvette parts but no clue how it lasts long term. It’s pretty expensive so I’d like to think it holds up.

Stock larger ones and just cut them down to the size needed. Works great... cutting disc to get it close.. quick cleanup on the stationary sander and no one will ever know the difference. Works for both .156 and .100 housings just fine.

I'd vote for white flipper bats with the orange bands

#76 11 months ago

Thanks! Yes I’m aware but only had sub 7 pin housings.

We’ve made contact. Playfield is in but haven’t had time to test yet. I replaced the back playfield glass trim with a spare new one I have.

The lockdown bar and the tilt hardware are being cleaned and tumbled to look nice like the playfield.

Currently have opening.

Dave,
Hope to start the teardown and do my cab on Banzai soon, Its going to be a challenging one for both of us, have yet to see a documented teardown on this pin. Great work again on your 3rd Bad Cats, I know who ever its for is going to be thrilled, Mine is just beautiful also, I consider it better than new. Dave is a great guy to work with and does not cut any corners on his swaps, constantly keeps in contact and bounces off idea's of what he think will look best on swaps. Can't wait to see what he does with my Banzai, have both Mirco playfields and plastics ready to go.
