    As mentioned -- 74HC has CMOS level inputs/outputs plus zilch current drive capability.
    74HCT08 is voltage compatible but has VERY low current drive capability and there are places that this cannot replace a 7408 (e.g. Williams drivers). To determine what will work - where is this part used?
