Quoted from Blitzburgh99:I visit midland/odessa about once a month...hotels are like $350 per night. How much for a cot in your game room? Haha!
There ya go Chosen, $100 a night B&B with unlimited game play. Pay for that building in no time.
Quoted from MustangPaul:There ya go Chosen, $100 a night B&B with unlimited game play. Pay for that building in no time.
Sure! $100 per night... that would be about right, there’s no shower or bed ha! All night pinball for $100, they’ll want to run the A/C in the summer and the games will need maintenance ... so $150 lol
Not sure that junction box pic is up to code. That’s nuts! Have no idea how you got all of that in there and closed!

Slow process with a Rubber mallet and a 1x1, quadrupled checking every connection through the process
I have never wanted so badly to live in the out building behind a house.... My god this looks amazing from top to bottom every detail. Congrats!
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Is that an extension to the tower? Will games be in there to? Or is this a area for the wife?
This is in the patio, it will be school area, lego area, maybe a game or 2
Quoted from Yelobird:I have never wanted so badly to live in the out building behind a house.... My god this looks amazing from top to bottom every detail. Congrats!
Dude, thank you! My kids want to live in there too, ha!
Quoted from Zavadoza:Ben this is amazing. Are you going to TPF?
Yeah; I was going to say those pin-games are going the wrong direction. ;D
Quoted from swinks:can you post a photo from that new window looking up at the spiral stairs?
Quoted from Zavadoza:Ben this is amazing. Are you going to TPF?
Yes sir. Guys I have to leave early Sunday Am, can’t bring games this year, I did bring flight2k last year

Forget TPF, I’m going to your house !! Lol. Love the perimeter lighting.
This is an amazing project! Have been watching since you started and shown many people the pics gallery of your progress...please post a video walk thru once you are ready. Complete awesomeness!!
Quoted from Zavadoza:San Antonio is 5 hours from TPF, which is 5 hours from Midland, which is 5 hours from San Antonio.

its like the Texas Triangle of awesomeness!

thank you guys, I plan to do a walk thru . I had a few guys over last night and put everything through its paces, electrical is all good, and we were blaring everything fairly loud and the wife and kids didn't even notice ( asleep ) So Im going to celebrate (mostly by going to TPF and coming home to a complete project and several machines to fix LOL)
Quoted from zh2oson:You are an inspiration.

Ha! Thanks
Im just an insane ‘organized “hoarder”
I’ve been super busy putting stuff on walls, fixing a water leak, finishing up trim outside, watching tv, and playing borderlands 2... oh and pinball.
A few more games going up stairs, put up art on the walls, need to fix Harley and move it back to my dads office, need to bring in transporter and finish it , somewhere in there I’ll finally get up a walkthrough video

I have learned many things along the way which I hope to replicate in my own game room expansion coming soon. Thanks for All the pics and sharing this incredible journey with us! Question, loving the perimeter lighting!! Did not see it in this thread is that an off the shelf rope light strip? Really liking that look. Also, can the color be changed or is it a one color option. Thanks again!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. This project has been amazing on a lot of different fronts . I feel super blessed that I’ve been able to do this. I never thought at this point in life that this would be possible.
Here is a reply to a pm that I sent regarding the lighting, If more information than this is needed. I can certainly post more .
...
its 15mm RGBW LED Neon
it is color changing, I believe I bought 75 yard rolls, and one rgb controller could power the entire roll.
There is an aluminum channel that you can buy that the led fits into, in either 3" strips or 3' strips.
It is not easy to make the connections at the controller and takes a bit of patience and practice.
yes, I would buy it again, but only for indoor use, it's made to be used outdoors, but it will yellow and dry out eventually. the parts are reasonably priced, but the shipping is expensive.
Leon is the guy I bought it from in china.
[email protected]
he can give you a full catalog of what they offer.
have fun!

Thanks So much for the feedback. So, you say they have an aluminum channel but did you use one? Seems like yours are nice and flowing around the room. Thanks again.
Almost done, can't wait for the video. My only suggestion is get the pf's out from behind the games and put them on the ceiling.

I should have some more for the ceilings in the future, but also really like the ceilings being completely black

Yes, I’m using the aluminum channel to keep it straight...

Thank much. Must say, I made every effort to Try and get pricing and order from Leon but to say it was difficult is an understatement. lol Diffidently a language barrier. Said the ones you have are "to expensive" and not available now? Ok never heard that sales pitch before. No worries I will find something similar.

You’re not alone. I commend Chosen_S for pulling it off with the language barrier, but when I inquired several months ago about the same thing, I contacted Leon and ran into the same difficulties. Shop-cade has been on hold for quite a while, so games are in basement now with no fancy lighting. But if you find anything good, please highlight here (or send PM if it risks derailing this thread).

I’ll look around alibaba and AliExpress... that’s where I found Leon . Sorry y’all are having trouble... he hounds me once a month to buy more stuff, so for him to say that is weird

No worries. I probably didn’t put the effort into it that you did and since my project is on long term hold didn’t really worry about it.
I do suppose that the days of 1-click purchases on Amazon has spoiled many of us (me for sure) when you have to actually research and work a bit to get what you want/need. And tough to find out what you actually want/need sometimes on Alibaba.

Yeah, it’s definitely not a 1 click situation, took some bit of work and patience to make happen

Last question as I don't want to turn your amazing thread into a lights thread lol. Is the lighting uniform all the way around from the transformer to the other end? He is pushing me to buy LED strips but I already went that route and they are much dimmer at the end of a 50' run.

Yes, they are uniform...but let me explain my discovery... the rgb is dimmer because the red blue green is all on one chip, the solid colors are brighter because the whole color is on one chip. As far as the distance of electricity travel, my building is 21x30, and the lighting is all the way around the interior perimeter and the strip is the same brightness all the way around as far as I can tell, the brightness looks the same to me from the beginning of the strand to the end where they meet.
... I don't mind discussing the lighting here at length ... if someone wants to emulate what I have done, it’s the highest form of flattery. And I like helping people find hard to find things
After all that time and hard work building this awesome two story game room, looks like your out of space - time for an addition!
That poor Addams Family with a broken DMD... I'll come pick it up and take it off your hands for free!
Quoted from Zitt:That poor Addams Family with a broken DMD... I'll come pick it up and take it off your hands for free!
Ugh, it’s a color DMD, and there is a connection somewhere that keeps making this happen. It hasn’t had trouble in a while, just noticed it again while watching this video. I certainly appreciate the offer! My wife would have something different to say for sure. LOL
Quoted from Bazzy34:Awesome job! Rock on!
Thank you!
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Looks Awesome I’d be out there all the time.
Yeah, we pretty much forget about the rest of the house sometimes!

All fixed, guess the price just went up
E6E3FF10-4C5E-4EEF-BD19-3DEC5E083748 (resized).jpegDamnit. Somehow I knew you were going to say that. Everyone wants actual real money for their pinball machines instead of just getting rid of them. <sigh>

On my Stern Star trek; I had some issue where damage occurred during travel between Austin and TPF on year.
I ended up reseating the flat ribbon cable between the ColorDMD board and the display.
That seemed to fix it for me.
