    Quoted from AUKraut:

Cool lift! Definitely very functional, however not having any rails on there give me great concern. Even if you made them removable so that they could be put away when not it use would be a huge safety improvement.

Yes! Rails! I have some... I just keep forgetting the darn things at work.

    Quoted from merccat:

I’m guessing that platform folds up when not in use? If so I hope there is a heavy duty latch to keep it in the down position when the dolly wheels cross the fulcrum of the platform hinge. Otherwise might be a pretty exciting offload.
It does have me thinking if there is any way I can do something similar for my basement... Hrrrmmm...

It does fold; It folds down, and it folds up. I don’t see any need to fold it for now, but I might need to in the future, if nothing else to keep dirt and whether off of the wooden platform.

As of right now, the only way I have to move this up and down is with the switch on the second floor. I’m brainstorming a way to extend the switch to the bottom floor, so that I can have it on both bottom and top floors. Just another evening project that’s all!

So the real question is how many times have you rode it up and down? I would be a test dummy if I were closer.

Lol... once... I had to get my 5 year old to stand up top and push the button, haha

    #554 5 years ago

LOL. If we had that lift when I was a kid, I could imagine a lot of ruckus. Not to mention the whupping I would have received after having pops on the lift and shutting it down halfway up, then bailing.

Didn't permitting/planning department have an issue with the game room being connected to the house? I thought I remembered something about that.

Glad everything seems to be resolved!

Where is it connected? Pretty sure they are not.

thanks everybody.... Been a lot of work, My goal is to be finished by the end of march, working on it every day, I'm exhausted. Ive been putting in several hours a day and then the weekends Im at home, I work on it and take time to spend with my family. working by flashlight and spotlight, ha! I think I work faster alone, unless someones been working with me consistently and we get in a groove. Almost all of the materials have made their way to me; carpet, cabinets, and more,... still waiting on more metal trim, other than that, the only thing that is holding me back is time

Okay so i had to go back and look through some pictures, so where did the lift go? I’m only seeing that 1 upper door. It looks like that was the door where the lift was now I see a spiral staircases. What gives? Am I missing something?

    And looks great.

    #571 5 years ago

Thank you for the cool comments !

The lift is on the other side of the tower

Also my wife is super strong

We hoisted the carpet into the top floor ... my buddy Dave posing for the historical pic

Big things have been happening... I finally finished the metal on the tower and the metal on the breezeway, from the outside it looks almost like a complete project!

Carpet install for the upper floor is supposed to be today...

I also found some time to put some work in the bar.... with some luck I’ll have it finished with in the next few days, I’m learning about installing laminate on wood, it’s real important to have a warm day for contact cement to work properly, oh the humanity! Lol

Also, the carpet guy is making headway

No one ever post pictures of the middle of the process of installing carpet. Well here’s one

Memory foam looks like all one piece, chip foam looks like chips of different colored foam. Make sure to put black lights under your games, that brings the entire carpet to life.

    Looking awesome

Waiting to see the pics of the load in of the games. I’m sure you’re ready to get that done.

    #586 5 years ago

It’s been such a long project that I accumulated too many games to fit, there may be some trial and error, and some games might need to get cut, mostly arcade machines... I think I decided also to put all of my system 11’s up stairs in the 80’s room regardless if they’re from the 80s or not (here’s lookin at you Radical!”) I still have 3 system 11’s that are being worked on (high speed, whirlwind, transporter) that are not ready, so I have some time there. There are a few pieces that I have made deals on but have not finalized but are for sure additions (haunted house, hook, vector)

Also I’m in the process of building 2 four player machines that will utilize modern games (pc and switch... mostly for killer queen black and others) and thinking about maybe finding a big buck wild hd... not small peices

And also a small classic console setup with crt tv and all to play the games I grew up on (Genesis, tg16, nes, snes) ... exciting times gentlemen !

In all seriousness; are you having a Arcade warming party just before TPF?

I wish, my goal is to be completely finished by tpf, so that when I get home I can relax for a few minutes then start cleaning and loading games in.

    Still to do

    Complete building window
    Install French doors
    Tile patio
    Carpet tile bottom floor
    Baseboards bottom floor
    Touch up paint top floor
Wire up audio system in closet
    Mount TVs
    Paint patio interior
Trim out a few areas interior and exterior
    Install exterior patio light
    Install interior patio lights
    Clean, organize, throw away stuff

    I’m sure I’m missing a few to do’s

    #592 5 years ago

Window installed today! I measured the height 1/4” off incorrectly, and the window outgassed a little when we turned it upwards, I think it will be ok. It has a 10 year warranty if it goes bad. The height is ok, I just stacked setting blocks in the bottom to raise it up a little, sealed just fine.

The metal siding above the window was the last and most challenging cut so far, I threw away several finished cuts, and unfortunately it’s not the prettiest when you get close to it, but from 12 feet away, it’s a keeper!
