I have been working on a 1979 Williams Flash machine.

I have been trying to tackle problems as they come up. The question I have now is with regards to the background sound. When I play it makes all the appropriate noises when it hits the targets, but it doesn't make the background sound. Watching videos online, it appears that it is supposed to make a humming sound that increases in pitch as the game progresses. My question is if maybe a past owner disabled this, or if there is a switch to turn it back on, where would I find it.

I did find the white plastic knob that adjusts volume, but since only the taeget sounds are working, that is all that is adjusted.

    Thanks!

The background sound is turned off and on in the options. I had a flash, and turned the background noise on or off depending on who I played the machine with. Flip through your manual, and you will find the settings for it

Oh and by the way, flash had 2 different rom sets used (green label roms, and one other). The setting # for each rom set differed. If memory serves correct the setting #'s were 31 for background sound with one room set, and 33 for the other
