I’m so upset. Broken unobtanium.

Future Spa is super-popular at my house and the backglass is my favorite. Well, WAS my favorite. I took the glass out and my right hand just lost grip (had wrist surgery 10 years ago and it happens). The glass dropped less than an inch and the corner must have hit just right on the rail and it EXPLODED.

To make it worse, my two young daughters were there and they were in tears.

I don’t have much hope of finding another. Can’t believe I did this. Bad day.

BLAH!

#2 5 years ago

Man, that is a drag. Sorry that happened to you. Hopefully you find another one soon.

#3 5 years ago

Sorry to hear this. Try contacting Mayfair Amusements in NJ to see if they have a backglass. Their phone number is 718-417-5050. Good luck.

#4 5 years ago

I believe Mayfair is out in Queens or on the island somewhere.

#5 5 years ago

I am sorry.

What a bummer. Hopefully CPR will come out with that title. Place a wanted ad here and on Mr pinball. You never know.

#7 5 years ago

Totally sucks, sorry bro

#8 5 years ago

Sorry you broke your backglass one of my fears everytime I take one out.
Hopefully you can find a replacement.

#9 5 years ago

This could very well be the worst day of the year for you....

#10 5 years ago

That sucks, but I believe you will find one for sale. It may take a while, but it will happen if you are persistent.

#11 5 years ago

No how that feels. Been there, done that.

#12 5 years ago

Pinsider Racingpin had one available a few months ago. May be sold already though.

Good luck! Surely one will turn up from a hoard somewhere.

#13 5 years ago

I did the same thing with NGG... I feel your pain.

I was able to source a translite through PPS, though bgresto said he could do it also. Maybe reach one of them.

Good luck!

#14 5 years ago

So sorry it happened...a replacement will pop up

#15 5 years ago

Oh man, sorry to see that. Hopefully a replacement turns up somewhere for you.

#16 5 years ago

Sad sight to see

#17 5 years ago

I do hope you can find a replacement backglass. But, if I were you I'd ask around for high quality scans. And maybe you could print a nice translite replacement.
Not as nice. But, it's better than nothing and sure beats the glare from the bulbs. Its a bummer and I'm sorry. I do hope you and your daughters still find joy in the machine.

#18 5 years ago

There was one on eBay last month. Apparently sold for $213.77. Could be worse - there's a Flight 2000 backglass linked on the page for $499.

Looks like there is no current listing, but one is bound to pop up sooner or later there, or maybe here.

I did a little search and there aren't any used Future Spa glasses popping up at the moment. There was that one on e-bay a few months back. And one in England that the auction was ended two months ago. So your best bet is to contact Mayfair as was mentioned earlier, or be real patient.

I myself haven't broke any pinball glass yet after having handled probably hundreds of them.

Sucks that you did.

But as I always like to say "better you than I"

#22 5 years ago

That sucks!

#23 5 years ago

At least the playfield glass was in!
Good luck on the hunt.

#24 5 years ago

I also have two daughters... hope u didn't do anything regrettable...in the aftermath!!

#25 5 years ago

Radium,

I did it too. It sucks. bgresto.com can make one if he can get a glass to scan. Give them a try.

#26 5 years ago

Sorry to hear this happened to you! I might be able to point you in the direction of a replacement though. I don’t know the seller personally, if it’s still available or if they will ship, but it’s worth a try. Plus, it’s only $110 Canadian, which is about $3.50 American lol. I’ll pm you with a link to the ad.

Good memory. I completely forgot about that backglass for sale. +1

#28 5 years ago

There may be hope at CPR as well.

That backglass is located in the same city I am in. If the seller doesn't want to ship I can buy it for you and ship it. I don't mind helping out another pinsider.

Rad! When I messaged him about it, I suggested maybe getting one of the local guys from pinside help if the seller won’t ship. It’s nice of you to volunteer right away. If it was closer to me I’d volunteer to help, but Sadly it’s a fair ways away.

#33 5 years ago

My guess is that the broken backglass in the pic that pinhead52 posted was for a Gottlieb Abra Ca Dabra e-m machine.

#34 5 years ago

Glad to see there is hope! Pinside can be a wonderful community.

#35 5 years ago

That sucks man. Taking these valuable and hard to replace back glasses out of a game and then putting them down anywhere is always a highly stressful task. Best of luck finding a replacement.

#36 5 years ago

Thanks to sixtyfourbits and TheHueManatee I might get a replacement! Hopefully it all works out. Thanks guys!

I understand the value of a backglass, but I often wondered what I would do in this worst scenario. I've been fortunate because the backglasses I have, Flash Gordon, Gorgar and Blackout, have all been reproduced (and anal me has 2 for each game... spares are mounted as wall art!)

Maybe some talented pinsiders have the ability to make a translite from a high res photo, put it behind a piece of tempered glass and make the game more cosmetic, while you wait for the real backglass to pop up... I thought they did this for black knight...

Are these guys still around? Seems like they are trying it...

That's the ad I messaged him about yesterday, and that he confirmed was still available. I just sent it by message as opposed to posting it here just to be extra safe in regards to someone possibly trying to beat him to it. Hopefully it works out for him to purchase it, it looks to be in great shape and priced well. Good luck OP!

#42 5 years ago

I feel your pain I did something really stupid I had my time machine back glass on another game to make it safe so my wife and daughter wouldn't do any harm to it well I bumped into the game in the back glass slid off from the top and smashed in a million pieces it was immaculate I mean it was just perfect back last what a stupid move by me..... I was depressed for a couple of days I know someone's making a tranlights on eBay right now not the same though....

I think F2K will be re-made with the new* CRP repros? I wouldn't buy anything for an arm and a leg now with CPR remaking almost everything here soon. (well lots of stuff anyway!!)

#44 5 years ago

This is why I’m on pinside. A few hours ago radium was devastated by a freak accident. Thinking all was lost, but now pinsiders pulled together and helped them out.

#45 5 years ago

My greatest fear is my Andromeda glass. This thread gives me the creeps just thinking about broken backglasses

#46 5 years ago

Had it happen to an Elektra backglass
Was just holding it and it exploded. It's apparently a more common occurrence than i thought.

What the fu....

#48 5 years ago

Condolences, that's truly a sad day.

#49 5 years ago

Edit: there may be some hope after all...will keep updated. (Person selling sounds like a real treat and is definitely not a pinsider.)
