got anothee baby pacman head scratcher game was working fine then turned it on today and left flipper is out. the solonoid is fine i can jump it off the other flipper and just to be sure i changed the diodes also.
i checked connectivity from all the wires on the solonoid as well as on the flipper buttons back to the board and theyre all connected.. reflowed solder where i could just to be sure and neither of the buttons will trigger the solonoid

where would i look next? driver board? mpu?

to clarify on the flipper buttons i checked connectivity back to the driver board. on the solonoid i checked connectivity of the green wire back to the driver board and one brown wire down to the rectifier board and the other one over to the 1a fuse.

the loop of the right prong on the solonoid that has all three wire is broken but i was still able to get a good connection onto the solonoid soni dont think that its but open to suggestions..

thanks for your input!!

Verified the EOS switch is making good connection?

dont think its eos. seems to be well aligned and swabbed it with a card just to be sure no change

You’ll need to verify connection with a meter. I’ve had plenty not making electrical connection, even though the contacts are physically touching.

Have you confirmed power at the coil?

i double checked with the meter yes is making connection when closed. the coil seems to be fully wired up as well i get connectivity from each leg of the coil to the 1a fuse on the playfield and ive checked as many lines as i could back to the rectifier board and driver board

I’ve had this issue intermittently for over a year. It’s probably either the flipper relay is going bad, or cold solder joints on the flipper relay.

Also important to note that Baby Pac is just an over-engineered mess. Makes little sense at times. Love it but hate working on it!

isnt the flipper relay on the driver board? i changed the driver board for a known good one and still no change

#9 1 year ago

not the driver board mpu control panel or solonoid. i changed them all with my other machine still no change.

im such a dope haha i plugged the solonoid harnass into the board upside down so red was on a pin but green was in the guide slot smh ‍♂️

but in case anyone finds this helpful the way i figured it out is because i decided to run an alligator clip directy from the solonoid to the circuit board then i saw my problem right away

So then the coil didn’t have power? Surprised this didn’t cause other issues.
