Your wires may be wrong or right...but all that corrosion could be causing some heartache. IMHO you should redo that connector.

That looks Amazing!!! Nicely done. I did a fair amount of board work on mine and still have to dial in the colors (I replaced all the rheostats). Its hard to do by yourself without a large mirror. 
I also have a funny thing that happens sometimes with the monitor. I think I need to recap it...
