Quoted from kaz1961:

What would be a good price for a project baby Pac in nice shape that plays blind? Are 13" monitors even obtainable these days?

Depends on what the problem is on the monitor it might be fixable. I've watched a few project baby pacs within the last six months sell for 700-800 on ebay. 13" monitors are getting hard to find so I'd troubleshoot what you have before trying to replace it.

If it plays blind wouldnt that mean the vidiot is fully booting and not the issue?

I got the SCR's from digikey https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MCR106-6G/MCR106-6GOS-ND/

As for the issues have you replaced connectors/headers yet?

Quoted from Antennaejim:

Anyone know why my high scores all show up on attract mode as random letter and number combos? If I type in AAA for example after I reach a high score, the top 8 will displaybit as 5DR or something completely not what was entered. Very strange. Anyone know how to fix this?

It would likely be a 5101 chip issue, replace the socket and chip if you haven't already. Are you using any kind of battery on the MPU? Might be time to change it if the scores reset every time you turn the power off.

Quoted from Crt1989:

Recently acquired a Baby Pacman. Every thing works except sound. No start up sound, gameplay sound, etc. My test sound does work however, and I can adjust the loudness of the test sound with both my video pots. I have noticed that when both pots are all the way up I am getting a hum from the speakers. Anyone know what the problem could be?

What does your led flashes on boot look like? I’m assuming its a rom or socket issue causing the no sound.

Here is a problem I have been trying to chase for a while, every few boots the high scores start to become corrupted with random scores and characters. I installed NVRAM but had this problem prior to it. Any thoughts as what chips feed high score information to the ram?

Quoted from Antennaejim:

Try reseating the chips in the upper left corner of the vidiot board I had the same problem.

Looks like thats the fix, I removed all the roms (U9-U12) cleaned the legs and reseated. Passed ten boots in a row with zero issues. I’ll replace the single wipe sockets with double wipe sockets in the future if the problem ever reappears. Thanks and happy new year!

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Something to keep in mind: the pads and traces on the Vidiot board are very fragile. Don't take the idea of replacing a socket very lightly with that board. You can potentially cause damage even if you're careful.
The MPU and driver boards don't seem to have that problem, so replace away on those.

I replaced some of the smaller sockets on the vidiot without issue but would prefer not to have to replace the bigger sockets as they do appear to be in good condition. Any idea why the vidiot is more delicate than the mpu would be?

Send me your Vidiot boards for repair or rebuild. Tech work and good price.

Fast turnaround too, definitely gets my recommendation for anyone who needs these repaired.

Quoted from Fliptastic:

Anybody know if invisiglass is available for Baby Pac?

Might be able to get a run with PDI if there is enough of us willing to buy, they have done custom runs before. (Safecracker, looks like 5-10 minimum orders needed)

I had previously posted in this thread how my high scores were being corrupted after turning power off and back on, I can report that doing the Dallas reset mod fixed the problem. There was some discussion that the faster reset of the original hardware sent junk data to NVRAM and that the slower initial reset from the Dallas chip would prevent it, hopefully this helps anyone else who see this issue.

Quoted from Pinash:Similar subject, does anyone besides eldorado games service the vidiot board?
