Great thread! I don't own one, but have be looking for one in Michigan for almost a year. If anybody is selling one, please PM me. I added this to my favorites so I can come back to it easily when I finally find one.
Quoted from chuckwurt:And the high score is not a typo.......
4 Million!? I have 700 something set to 3 ball with factory recommended settings.

Mine is factory I believe so you start with 5 pacmen. you cannot get any more than six since you are only allowed one extra man per life. Just stay on one of the first two level formats, and keep using that pacscallator and eat the hell out of some fruit.
What is everyone's high number of screens? I've made it to 10. Do the "blacked out" screens go on forever after screen 7?
I have only gotten to 10 as well. Or whichever one has all the walls blacked out. Not sure what happens after that. Not sure if anyone at Bally can tell you that either since this wasn't a very popular game haha.
Before this evening, the Baby Pacman pinwiki page was blank. I finaly sat down and spent the evening adding all sorts of information to the pinwiki page for it.

There's plenty of room for additional contributions, so feel free to add anything you feel would be helpful
I just adjusted my game to only 3 pac lives and reset all my highscores. Played the first game with the new rules last night and got 2.3 million. I think having 5 pacman lives was making games last way too long. Trying to figure out whether I should adjust anything else. I mainly want random people that come over to want to play it more.
I wish there was a setting that allowed you to only have one extra pacman per turn. Because you can get extra pacmans fairly easily, in a two player game, one person's turn can last forever. I know that turning extra pacmans off makes the game much more difficult, but do you guys think that will help make two player games less boring for the person that is waiting to play?
Also, does everyone have their center arrows carry over from ball to ball or do they start over?
Did not know we had a Baby Pac Club... I love mine, such a brutal and fun game! Never gunnna sell it!
Quoted from cableguy918:I must suck, I don't think getting extra a Pacman is that easy.
The key is to never go for the blue target. Go for spellin tunnels and fruits instead. I got really good at hitting those spinners and the saucers to spot letters. Safe shots to each saucer are backhands from each flipper. Just do that over and over to spot letters of tunnels and fruits. That way you are advancing fruits or tunnels and the center arrows towards EB at the same time.
You can also backhand each spinner lane.
Quoted from Hougie:Do any of you guys need a nice Baby PAC marquis? I have one that I don't need.
Mines not great. The ink is all there but slighlty delaminating.
Has anyone thought about lighting up the lower big plastics next to the flippers? I want to put some strips in there, but wondering how to get them power without having to run wire all the way to the back of the game to jump them to the MPU. Any thoughts?
Quoted from Crash:There are two Baby Pacs on location in middle Tennessee! We have one.
My parents live in Crossville. Is that near them? Would love to come and play.

I saw someine add some bulb sockets to the nearest GI lines for holes near or under the big plastics. Then, take a look at either the dual flex head LEDS or LED strip from cometpinball.com
The later levels are impossible if you lose the ball quickly. Damn hard ghosts.
The playfield on mine is pretty rough and one of the flippers gallops. Anyone know what's wrong with the flipper? Bad coil, maybe?

maybe check the EOS switch and see if the gap is too small when the flipper is engaged. that can cause machine-gunning. If that looks okay, maybe just replace the EOS switch if the contacts are pitted at all.

Closest drive for you would be Lebanon at 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Yep. Although I would wait until I finish White Water. Looking like about a month from now at the pace I'm going. It's gonna turn out super nice.

Awesome. I usually go down to go golfing so I would think it would be sometime in June or July.

Do you have the manual? I think that is a dipswitch setting. It also has suggestions for factory settings. If you are getting 2+ Million on those then you are really good.
No guests play my Baby Pacman, it eats casual player's souls for breakfast.
Haha. Agreed. I have the manual, I just wanted to try and set it up to be more intising for random players. I just changed my settings to 3 pacmen, and everything else recommended. Manual says for center arrows to carry over and for the energizers to carry over. Also, the bottom tunnels are open at the start of each level not just the start of each man.
I learned from the best in my opinion. I would say I average over a million, and solid games are over 2 million.

A bad coil can sometimes cause this too, if the problem isn't the EOS switch.

Did you ever get around to doing this mod? I've LED'd out the whole cabinet but want extra lights under Mr. and Mrs. Pacman. It seems like something that should be stock.
If you have done it could you tell me how it went?
Been having some issues with my monitor. The screen starts to shake. sometimes minimal, sometimes more while other times a rumble or a soft tremble..
I have adjusted every pot, from sync to everything. Any way for me to tune this thing in so it is stable. At this point i dont really care how amazing my colors are. Just want it to be stable. I personally hate CRT's even if I am a retro kid at birth. I am very tempted to rip the monitor out and put in a LCD. I really like how my LCD-RFM turned out. Death to CRT's....Hate them.

I have two LED strips that just get power from the GI.

Check voltages for the monitor. There could be an issue with the flyback board on the monitor.
Try unplugging the game and letting everything discharge for 20-30 minutes. See if that does anything.
You might want to check over at KLOV for troubleshooting monitor wobble.

I get the game to be stable, then after a game or two it starts to lose it. As I mentioned before, I despise CRT's. I will test it first, but I think an LED is going to be better for me.

Post about it on KLOV. They likely have way more experienced CRT techs there than here.
If you do replace it, offer the monitor up for sale. I've encountered a couple of people who said they were looking for one, so they might be able to use the picture tube if the burn-in is minor.
Recap it. If I remember it's a pretty quick job. It fixed a bunch of wavy geometry on mine. The convergence could still be better, but I am not touching the yoke.
To me, LCD is a four letter word.

CRT only has (3) letters For me, I just cant stand how CRT's look. I designed on them for many years and they are like a bad case of Cataracts, "Clouding of the normally clear image". When I see a CRT I want to smash it.
I know what you mean... I will post some samples when I remove my CRT If I took an arcade game with a lot of complex characters like Zelda in this case I can see where I would want to hold onto a blur-crt to blend colors. But for Pacman, I do not think we will have the same issue.
I am a big fan of Hammerwatch. And they did some nice effects. Mostly Unity type effects.
how the hell are you guys getting in the millions and getting to board 10? WTF? Farthest i've made it, is board 4 and 600k. Damn I suck. Still like playing the game tho. Still set on 5 pacs. Don't know how to reset the high scores or change number of pacs.

I had my Baby Pac for years and mid 500k's w/ 3 lives was the best I could muster. I wish I had it back so I could try some of the strats in this thread.
I guess we need 2 baby pac threads. One. is the elitist baby pacs, and the other is. I'm a half assed player baby pac player.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:you know why? Because that red ghost is a fawking cheater, that's why!
That's for sure. He's a power pellet camper!
Haha. I wish I could have everyone over my house to show you the way. I spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of the game.
It wasn't one of my favorites back in the day, but it would be fun to shoot a few games for the nostalgia.
Quoted from ForceFlow:CRTs blended the vector graphics together, making it look like a smoother image.
LCDs render things exactly as they are programmed--in blocky vector graphics.
Here's a comparison I saw posted somewhere recently:1391807722376.png
Raster graphics, you mean. I'm probably pretty much the opposite of Picard in this argument. CRTs make low resolution images (old games, SDTV in some cases) look fantastic. Scanlines, blurring, and other artifacts help hide the otherwise humongous and jagged pixels. But, if you're talking HD content or a PC monitor LCD is king.
In fact I like the effect so much I drove around town a picked up a junked TV sitting in someone's front yard. Works perfectly.

Worst case, if I don't like the LCD I will use a CRT computer-monitor. Will find out
