If you’re using MPF to run the game, not hard at all to interface with one.
The only downside to a LCD is you have to create a lot of assets to go on the LCD vs much simpler numerical or alphanumerical displays. That and you need a slightly more powerful computer than a cheap raspberry pi or similar.
I cut my plastics from 1/16” poly with utility shear scissors, and then cleaned-up and rounded the corners with a dremel sanding attachment at lowest speed.
Only gave myself one small cut in the process.
