Lately I've been asking some friends as kind of a joke what is a great movie that would make a terrible pin. Some of the responses I get are pretty hilarious, especially with movie scenes described as modes. I'm throwing it out to the forum to see what you guys come up with. Here are a few examples:

American History X (awesome movie... probably a horrible pin idea)
Cast Away (with a Wilson 2-ball multiball)
Schindler's List (all mode ideas are too risky)
The Green Mile (have a MET Sparky style electric chair)
    Full Metal Jacket
    Rosemary's Baby
    Lord of the Flies

Anyway you get the idea, the more obscure, the better. Throw in some multiball ideas, movie scene modes, ridiculous pop bumper themes...

    Titanic.

    Iceberg pop bumpers.

    No Country for Old Men

    Shotgun silencer double scoring

    Eraserhead

    Gone with the wind

Can you imagine a "Philadelphia" pin?

    #6 5 years ago

Lol, Castaway would be pretty good. Time to bring the power ball back with a painted Wilson on it for "Save Wilson Multiball".

have a little raft as an upper playfield, gotta balance the ball up there

    #8 5 years ago

    Schindler's List
    The Road
    Shawshank Redemption

    #9 5 years ago

    Rain Man

    Black Jack/Casino video mode

    #10 5 years ago

Midnight Cowboy is my all time favourite movie. A pinball game based on male prostitution probably wouldn't sell well.

    #12 5 years ago

A Quiet Place. At first you think it would be cool... but then you realize a pinball machine about being quiet would be terrible!

    #13 5 years ago

Yeah I get it, anything anyone says or does, someone else on pinside already said or did it like 5 years ago.

thank god for hAbO to point this out

And no call outs whatsoever until you get further into the game. Just the sound of the ocean playing in the background.

    Any Cate Blanchett movie

    I lol'd at that one

    Million Dollar Baby.

The more you play, the more that parts of the machine stop working, and you just want the game to end.

Every time you hit a switch and the machine makes a noise the flippers die and you drain immediately

    ET

And Atari_Daze drops the mic, exits stage left.

    #23 5 years ago

    Django Unchained

    The Breakfast Club

All the call outs just talk to each other throughout the game. There are 5 modes. Brain, athlete, basket case, princess and criminal. They all appear to be different, but when you go through them, you realize that they are quite similar after all. If you get a high score, instead of entering your initials you have to enter an essay on who you think you are. And the game can only be played on Saturday morning.

This idea might spawn a homebrew!
The only music in the pin would be "Don't You" by Simple Minds just over and over and over and over

    The hateful 8

You need to just waste all your time looking through all the posts before posting something. Or come up with a better question that no one has thought of. Good luck!! Nice come back, funny!!

Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia

    #29 5 years ago

    Jackass. Any of them.

Bad things happen to your balls, and the call outs just laugh.

    #30 5 years ago

    Sophie's Choice
    The Deer Hunter
    Barry Lyndon
    Miller's Crossing
    Amadeus
    Gandhi

    #31 5 years ago

    YOU TAKE THAT BACK
I am so in for NIB

    #32 5 years ago

You hit the ball in a scoop and have to listen to 70 minutes of dialogue before it ejects back into the playfield

Matt maybe you can add to your thread with also naming a terrible movie that would make a great pin.

    #34 5 years ago

I like the idea! might dedicate that to its own thread though

    #35 5 years ago

Surprised we haven't heard a Deliverance suggestion yet

    Dueling banjo multiball
    Squeal like a pig jackpot
    Rapids orbits into pop bumpers

    #36 5 years ago

Not a movie, but I think Breaking Bad would be a poor choice for a machine. It's my all time favorite show, but the theme just doesn't lend itself to good pinball IMHO.

    #37 5 years ago

    Jaws

    #38 5 years ago

Ben's trying to start trouble, fine, Ten Commandments.

    #39 5 years ago

    The Hunt for Red October

You hit the ball in a scoop and its just lost under the playfield in various subways

    #40 5 years ago

    Koyaanisqatsi

    #43 5 years ago

Not a movie but the series OZ about prison.

    Gravity (no sound)

    #44 5 years ago

The accused.....can you imagine the multiball?
Edit: wow, I made myself cringe. I apologize.

I think this has been made already. The manufacturer decided to call it “Magic Girl”.

Pulp fiction? Definitely great movie, but...gimp mode?
