Spooky always did promise there would be a lot more content added, but stuff changed, and it didn't happen.

Of course, it would be awesome if they made another content based update happen.

Might be a dumb question, but I work in software (as I'm sure plenty of us here do) and would be interested in the feasibility of writing some custom code for R&M to add modes/dimensions if/when Spooky finally stops putting out code updates. With only 750 units produced, I can't imagine adding more modes to R&M is a high priority for the Spooky software team.

I know that a lot of games these days run on open source frameworks (PyProcGame?) with some combination of Python and YAML configs but haven't gone much deeper than that.

Curious if anyone has any insights into any proprietary software tooling Spooky may be using or other ideas of where to start.

Seems like a question for Spooky. They are fairly active on Pinside...try PM'ing them or sending them an email.

I imagine Spooky uses some open source tools (maybe even some that I developed, but the pinball platforms themselves tend to be pretty closed. Even if they opened up the platform, you'd have to deal with the licensor (who is unlikely to be supportive).

The most impressive software "mod" I've seen is Tim Stiles Jurassic Park, however I believe that was done entirely with Pinball Browser (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/acdc-display-and-modify-dot-matrix-images). Unfortunately, this project was discontinued as a result of licensing hassles IIRC (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-jurassic-park-2-custom-code-project/page/36#post-7112630).

Fingers crossed. Even if it’s to add a few more dimensions and fix the portal topper bug.

I’ve thought about this a lot for other pins and only bringing it up with the software/update comments, what if they charged $300/download for new content? Could drive some money into the license aspect to get adult swim or R&M onboard to releasing more content or something. Not even sure if that’s the issue. Just a thought

Great brain fart, I'm in!

So I was doing some underside maintenance (installing precision flippers) and when I was all done there were quite a few leds no longer turning on.
I traced wires back to a board and don't see any problems (except there is only one led on on the board whereas other similar boards look like they have up to 3).
I tried resetting all connectors but no dice. I also noticed the segment display by the flippers is not turning on - which is also connected to that same board...

Any ideas here?

Same board right below it; only has 1 LED lit as well? Usually it's the most simple thing especially when it happens right after lifting the playfield. Bumped something while working on something else, or something came loose. Double check the ribbon cables are seated. I know they have a glob of hot glue but double check those as well.

Looking at the manual it shows 5 boards that control lights. According to what's in the manual, and looking at your topside picture, 4 of the 5 boards are working. The bottom counter is controlled by Board #4, so I would look there to see if something came loose.

There will definitely be a bug-fix update at some point, I'm just haven't gotten to that yet.

Problem solved!!
It was the ribbon cables connected at the segment display. I had cleaned out the segment display and when I put it back in, I must have over tightened. I loosened those screws and reattached the ribbon cables and everything is working as intended now

Justin's voices and acting style is the soul of the show...they can be imitated, but doubt they can be duplicated. It's hard for a voice actor to say "no" to a gig, but most of the good ones might not want the heat for taking over the characters under this circumstance. Family Guy got a new Cleveland, but it was without scandal & with the original actor's blessing. The fans might reject the show with a sound-alike, especially if the court case is thrown out. Unless Adult Swim knows something bad about Justin beyond the court case, they may have jumped the gun here.

Unfortunately, corporate America doesn't believe in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Companies are run by a bunch of spineless executives and woefully unqualified board of directors. They're only concerned with their "brand image" in case he is guilty, they don't want anything to splatter on the company. I could understand Adult Swim suspending their relationship with Justin Roiland until his legal issues are resolved, but firing him before he even has a chance to defend himself at trial is just a ham-fisted reaction that I hope spectacularly blows up in Adult Swim's face.

There’s some other shit besides the court case. Publicly, some really gross texts to girls were leaked. Privately, there’s prob gonna be some bad behind-the-scenes shit that’s going to come out.

I've always assumed that pretty much every person in the industry is a terrible person, so my opinion doesn't change much when these things come out. If anything, I get frustrated that all of the people who actually knew about abuse from the likes of Harvey Weinstein or Kevin Spacey for years suddenly start pretending to be outraged when it becomes public. I mean the same people who fire someone now for a tweet spent decades working with Roman Polanski, even throwing awards at him.

I haven't seen Rick & Morty for a few years so it's not like I'm invested in this, but I think this is dumb. I think we need to completely separate people's personal and professional lives, because if we knew everyone's secrets, everyone would be canceled.

Corporate America might be part of the problem, but it's our twisted, hypocritical, porn-addicted culture that loves to cancel, shame, and drag people to the gutter (the so-called "hero shithead rollercoaster". I haven't paid any attention to what Justin is accused of. Why? I don't care. Where do I personally draw the line? Physical harm and death (to others).

Amen! Epstein was one of the more objectionable people to be exposed in years and he was VERY plugged into the rich/famous down the road from me in Palm Beach Florida. The "authorities" looked the other way for many, many years. Everyone knew what he was up to...

There are a lot of terrible people in all aspects of life. People in positions of power can be the types to abuse it…but not everyone. I’ve been in the animation biz for over 20 years, and the majority have been good, moral, generous, nice people…The few scumbags I’ve met are no longer around, thankfully.

I’m glad AS is going to keep the show going for the sake of the crew. They don’t deserve to be thrown out of work cuz of Justin. As a fan, I dunno if it will work without his voices - but we’ll see.

They signed a contract up to season 10. This might not of been a breach of that contract so Id bet they stick through it until season 10 or have to pay them if they cancel

What is the alleged physical harm and has there been any corroborated evidence? I remember Johnny Depp was pretty much demonized when allegations came out, only to have since been redeemed.

Loving Roland's work on the PC game 'High On Life'. Genuinely funny guy and irreplaceable. Haven't watched RM beyond season 1 though. I love it, just no time to sit idle in front of a TV these days.

While it may look like AS has overreacted, there is a strong chance they know something that we don't when making the decision to end their relationship with Roiland.

In any case, this is very unfortunate but he is one person and the show takes a team of people who don't deserve the fallout from this.

As it relates to pinball, I love my R&M. I will continue to love it, and appreciate the work that the team at Spooky put into it.

HULU also cut ties with him today. My NIB R&M is now listed on the marketplace for anyone interested, I’m sad to see the situation play out like this. Hopefully the shows will be ok without him.

A friend and I were discussing this over the weekend before this came up. That's where we sat, where do you draw the line? Am I never supposed to enjoy Seven again? Should I throw out MJ's catalog? Do you never buy Nikes? The list goes on and on and while I think people can decide what they will and won't buy, if you knew everything everyone did involved with every product in your life, you'd be homeless wearing cardboard yelling at the sky.....then again....maybe those people are onto something...

It’s sad that humanity has a dark side, and sadder still when you see people on the shooting star trajectory of fame flame out in such spectacular fashion. It really makes you ponder just HOW FUCKED UP it is to have so much potential and to waste it by pursuing a single other human being with no regard to the impact, and life changing consequences that will come from you not being able to keep your head on straight and the little one in your pants.

My respect for my fellow humans has kept me from dropping trou or bringing my arm around, well except when clobbering my older brother when we were kids… he had that coming.

I recommend selling the game for cost instead of $13,500, this way it will sell faster and you won't have to worry about having the scandal pin in your house any longer than necessary. Besides, profiting off the scandal doesn't seem right IMO.

Something tells me that if you haven’t unboxed it to enjoy by now, you never intended to do anything of the sort. Looks and sounds like a purely speculative purchase to me. Plus, nobody is buying R&M now or ever because of a scandal or lack thereof.

Well, unfortunately... many many of those who have that drive to be successful, or more specifically in the spotlight (beyond the drive of most of us) have very very messed up childhoods, and are not...'okay' in the general sense. This is a very generalized statement, but it is indeed a known thing.

Yep. The problem is the media is very often a lousy filter (and it's really impossible for us to judge what actually happened in this case).

The MJ/Epstein empires are in a different league than this case. MJ/Epstein were addicts, but they had many "dealers" attracted to their fame and money who enabled the abuse. If society can "look the other way" for decades, I don't see any problem listening to MJ! Keeping "score cards" on public figures is just too much work, especially if you agree the media is a lousy filter.

You might find it sad, but our culture/society loves it (the "hero shithead" rollercoaster). The media loves a good train wreck and is always hungry for click bait...this is why it's a lousy filter.
