Hello Everyone!
I went to an arcade that had all of the machines I was looking at except for Avengers, but I am pretty confident that I don't want that based on feedback from the community and from watching youtube videos.
Here are my reviews and keep in mind that I am being picky because I am trying to figure out which one of these I want based on money/space restrictions. These are all awesome games and if I had the money/space I would love all of them. But I have to find something to differentiate these for me.
Honorable mention to Transformers. They had an LE version and it was not fun at first (I wanted to give it a fair shot since I had never played it) but got kind of fun a few games in it started to get fairly interesting. Unique and fun shots are the good but too much stuff on the playfield and worthless Ironhide ramp bring it back down to just a player for me. It was something different at least.
Metallica – I played at least 15 games on this machine last night plus the at least 50 I have played on route so I feel I have a pretty good feel of this machine. I think this machine was a Pinball Refinery edition and it was amazing. I had fun but I honestly can't get past the boredom of Sparky and the call outs are not the best to me. Sparky just doesn't do anything for me. I really have a blast playing this game, but think I am content with just playing this on location.
Iron Man – This game is a blast and they had a shaker motor plus an insanely good LED package. I had a lot of fun with this machine. I put in at least 20 games on it plus the fact that I put a ton of games on it when it came out in 2010. I hadn't played it since then before tonight. I love the sound effects and music and it plays great with a shaker motor. My big complaint with this game is Iron Monger. It comes up SOOO often. It seems like time after time in the game because I end up hitting the outer lane shots because of the speed of the game. I don't like Iron Monger because he blocks several shots in the game when he is up. I wish he was not part of the game. I love this game and enjoy it but.....
The Walking Dead – They had a pro (I have played the LE extensively on location) and I kept coming back to this game. I probably put 25 games on it and really like the unique shot selection. The funny part is that this pro had virtually no issue with the SDTM drain from the pop bumpers, which is a big complaint on this game. It was set fast and I probably only had that happen maybe 3 or 4 times in all those games. My only complaint about this game is the Well Walker bash toy but I can deal with him because he isn't really blocking anything, he is just another shot in the game. He looks so big on the computer but in reality he is only taking up the same amount of space as a ramp would so I can deal with that. I love the theme, art package, speed, shot selection and although this one didn't have the Millhouse sound mod, that is obviously something I can do at home. I love the whole feeling of trying to survive to be the last man standing. I also found this game to be a bit harder than my Star Trek so it would be a good balance. This kept being my “just one more game” pinball.
So in the end I think I am going to go with The Walking Dead. It just does it for me and makes me want to keep playing.
Thanks to everyone that gave their opinions. I really appreciate the feedback. I know I didn't go with the poll results but they are all such good choices that I don't think I can really go wrong. I think I did good giving them all some good playtime and hopefully this is the right choice for me.
Sorry for the long post and once again comments are always welcome.
