Quoted from Zaxxis:

Honestly -- Anything over 4 balls in a multiball is a novelty. It prevents ball control and they end up being interference when hitting shots.

Agreed. Heck, on a game like Tron, even 4-ball is a novelty. Good luck controlling that chaos. I can't hit a damn thing when I add the 4th ball in Quorra.

Quoted from markmon:

This doesn't look anything like Champion Pub to me. The hulk toy will rotate as well as toss its arms around.

So does the CP boxer. At first glance, it's about the same toy. Except the Hulk has a magnet/sensor in front of him. And the CP boxer differentiates between gut and head shots with launch ramps for head shots, and it looks like you can only hit Hulk in the gut. The ramp breaking and shaker effects will I'm sure set Hulk apart even more, but as for the physical toy... yeah, about the same thing as CP boxer; rotates back and forth, arms move up and down, and his stomach is a giant pound switch.

My thoughts exactly...4 balls is max for real control. 6 is just a flailfest until 2 balls drain.

lol, I have enough problems when there is over two balls. I think part of the fun of multi-balls are that they are uncontrollable and cause chaos. I say bring on six, I like the frantic effort of trying to keep as many alive as long as possible. If you want control, purposefully let a few drain.

The best multiballs incorporate rules that reward you for keeping more balls in play. I dislike games that give you no penalty for purposely letting balls drain. To me, it sort of defeats the point if you can let four out of six balls drain and still score the same.

Quoted from dfsays:

Obviously, constructive criticism is welcome. My reference is to the BS trolling that some of these posts represent.
This machine, and all their machines, are high quality pieces of modern art. Their aesthetics won't appeal to everyone, but you can't deny that they are examples of great craftsmanship.
Let them know what you'd like to see in the next machine. Vote with your wallet, not with a loud mouth.
And screw Brittany.

I guess some folks will never be happy with what Stern produces. Not sure how all the negative comments affects Gary's decisions, hasn't so far. I agree that if you don't like it, don't buy it.

My only complaint, like many others, is the cost. Hopefully Stern's new platform will help with that.

Gary, keep up the good work...

Finally had a moment to look at the playfield a little closer.. it is very different which is nice, although still looks pretty sparce. I love the Hulk Model vs. the Wolvie Toy.

One thing that would concern me, or tell me if i am wrong.. wouldnt this area that is flat get pummeled with shots that go between "the pin" cube? I cant think where i have seen a flush flat piece of metal facing the player like this? Dimple time?

My thoughts exactly. One way is to award 2X-3X...nX scoring based on the number of actual balls remaining on the PF.

My problem is the LE have differences in game play ...

When they offer a premium model like they are with Avengers, this complaint has no validity.

why does the tesseract have rivets showing? at least put a decal or something on that thing. To bad it doe snot light up or anything unless it does and we don't see it.

I think the rules for this game will be simple which is good. more like MB collecting hero's for the final battle with Loki. I hope there are combos and really hope Stern listens to us about call outs! I want to know how many shots I need and how I am doing via VO and SFX!

#563 11 years ago
Quoted from JoeJet:

I think that piece you pointed too is in the air above where the ball would travel...

I believe the area you are pointing to is up higher and can't be hit by a ball. It looks like there is some sort of target right below it.

You may be right.. but i cant seem to find any photo of that area then that is not obstructed by the cube..

That metal is actually at a higher elevation. There's a set of two or three stand-up targets behind the cube.

I still don't really get where the balls go when the bridge is up. It definitely looks like they just fly off the end. Better lay down a crap load of mylar there ...

The disc part is different on the Pro and LE...the LE has a transparent part on it...maybe a light flashes up through it...somewhat illuminating the cube? At least providing a flasher effect?

It flies off and hits Hulk or lands in front of him..that's why there's that heavy duty flap thingie there. I'm guessing he "destroys" it when you play his Multiball...which means you wouldn't have a ramp shot during that multiball...but hopefully they code it so that maybe he puts the ramp back down after collecting some Jackpots or something...perhaps to set you up for a Super Jackpot by hitting the ramp & diverting it into the drop into the saucer, which I'm assuming shoots the ball at the Hulk Smash target or Hulk himself.

#574 11 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Definitely lands in front of him at best...look at the angle coming off the ramp. No way its hitting him. That flap decal is going to take a pounding harder than that beer can on FGY. Mylar the crap out of that thing ASAP.

#575 11 years ago

Where is the magnet everyone is talking about? I don't see an exposed core anywhere.

#576 11 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

You don't see cores in front of the witch on WOZ either...or the sanctum on TS...or TAF magnets. Cores are not necessary.

#577 11 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

Exactly. Unless there is something to deflect it, the ball should travel in the same trajectory it would have if the bridge was there. Based on the photos, that completely misses Hulk.

#578 11 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

The forward momentum will cause the ball to track a little higher than the bridge would, but its still not hitting Hulk.

I know, but I can't recall the last time Stern made a game with a hidden magnet. Have they ever?

Good point...and good question. I'm not sure they have.

I think you are looking at the wrong thing. There are a couple of stand targets behind the cube. The area you are pointing at is above the cube and above the ball height.

#582 11 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

The disc part is different on the Pro and LE...the LE has a transparent part on it...maybe a light flashes up through it...somewhat illuminating the cube? At least providing a flasher effect?

Cool, the disc part of the cube on the LE does have a star there and those little marble looking areas. I am guessing light will come up through it.

I guess others have noticed that the Avengers in the hexagon on the lower area of the playfield appear to be a holographic/3D image of some sort.

#583 11 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

I'm guessing its under that flap in front of Hulk. If that's the case, that's a good solution for avoiding wood wear or mushrooming.

#584 11 years ago
Quoted from PeteM:

I'm sad you had to explain that.

That line was pure action movie porn.

#585 11 years ago

The Hulk is the superhero every man can relate to, and Iron man is the superhero every man would love to be.

#586 11 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

That line was pure action movie porn.

Amen.

The only quote I had trouble with in the Avengers movie was when Hawkeye says "I got 'em" in reference to aiming at Loki during the city battle.

That is so blatently stolen from The Untouchables, in the classic staircase scene. To have a C-lister like Renner try to pull that off just falls flat on its face.

Acdc is a hidden magnet right?

#588 11 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

I think it does. Otherwise they wouldn't be calling the home version of transformers "The Pin". Any difference in game play = different game imho. anything that changes the physics of a game with the exception of "tuning or dialing" your machine falls in that category. Even a standup vs drop target. There are many ways of cost cutting. FTR I am a fan of Stern. I just think they are making some changes because of the market and economy and seeing what works.

#589 11 years ago

I think that flap raises to pound him like in TFLE

#590 11 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

It does look like a holographic image. I hope it's better than the Tron backglass. Loved the idea but mine had imperfections that ruined the effect.

#591 11 years ago
Quoted from hank527:

No, they would have announced that in the features list. You'll be able to pound him just fine straight on...no need for a ramp flap.

#592 11 years ago
Quoted from badbilly27:

Looks to me like it might be lenticular 3D, or just bad photoshopping.

#593 11 years ago

So that little rivet at the end of the opened ramp, wouldn't the ball go airborne after hitting that?

#594 11 years ago

That does not make sense as the flap is definitely raised. Why not just make that part of the PF. Curious now to if its just a mini ramp type of shot to get enough air so that the ball hits him higher

#595 11 years ago
Quoted from FiveSixPyro:

Any difference in game play = different game imho. anything that changes the physics of a game with the exception of "tuning or dialing" your machine falls in that category.

My point was that as long as their is a premium version of Avengers available, anyone who wants the full featured game can get one. You aren't forced to pre-order the LE sight unseen like you were with X-Men.

RBION has a hidden magnet on the left side where the Idols collected are.

#597 11 years ago
Quoted from Pdxmonkey:

Acdc is a hidden magnet right?

True, but it isn't designed to affect the balls. Just the bell.

Quoted from BoJo:

It does indeed! You would think I would have remembered that, considering I owned one just a couple months ago.

looks so much different for playfield layout the hulk cabinet is awesome cant wait to see video of it in action. The only thing i wish was different would be that it would have been based on the comic books instead of the movies. Would be cool if thanos made an appearence in the dot matrix as I think he will be the villian for the sequel .

Quoted from hank527:

Looking at it again, I am thinking it is a little ramp that lifts up so that balls will fly and hit him in the body like missiles (from the movie when they were in the middle of the city and he was being attacked by the aliens).

#600 11 years ago

Don't forget, the hulk isn't always a friend.

Sometimes he can't control it, like on the helicarrier.
