here is a cool tesseract cube mod by xfassa on another thread - cool blue glow when spinning and no rivets

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tesseract-mod-complete

#103 11 years ago

Yes. Thank you.cool project!

#104 11 years ago

That cube looks great but a little concerned with using batteries. I wouldn't think they'd last long.

#105 11 years ago

Here is some video of my machine with led strips under the cab wired to flashers. Sorry about the crappy video.....

Blue is wired to the left ramp flasher and the dome on that flasher is changed to clear with a blue LED installed. Red is wired to the red tesseract flashers under the cube and green is wired to the hulk spotlight flasher. This game's flashers works great with the under cab led strips. It's quite the show....

#106 11 years ago

Did you make your own or buy a kit? Looks cool. Was going to put the kit I bought under TF....now I need two!

#107 11 years ago

I made it. Much cheaper and the same thing. I bought a kit online in the past. But, once I saw it I decided to make my own for all my pins since. It's just 5050 RGB LED strip light around the perimeter of the underside of the cab that is wired to the flasher. Takes a little time to solder the wiring onto the strip but it saves a lot of $$$ over buying a kit.

#108 11 years ago

I bought a kit and still need to solder! Color changing strips though.

Where do you buy them?

#109 11 years ago

The strips are rgb and with a controller they can be color changers. Controllers run about $15. But if you want it to cycle through colors you can't easily wire it to flasher circuits. You could tap 12 volt at the front of the machine by making a 3 prong molex. I did that for the backbox kit I also made. I used the same rgb strips on that but added a controller and rgb's behind the avengers logo. Makes the Avengers logo cycle through colors. You can buy the strip lights on eBay or go to this site, torchstar.com

some cool lighting Zdoor under the cabinet.

like the swing hammer, did you have to mod the figure to allow that to work?

#114 11 years ago

The batterys in the cube should last a long while and the whole cube mods only costs 10 bucks to make or less so just change it out or just change the led ball inside, they are very cheep, best mod for this game so far is the lighted cube, just amazing to see in person

here is a shield done by fellow pinsider - mrobertso2 on another thread

That shield needs to be made into the pop bumper covers.

It makes sense to marry in with the dmd graphics

Been messing with the Loki lock plastic. Tried raising the plastic about 3/8" in the original spot and it made it better. Moved it back to the location of the screw at the rear of the plastic but didn't like all exposed notches in the plastic being visible. So i had some ideas on doing something else with the plastic to hide the notches and wanted to give Gambits Loki lock location a try. Some pics:

Made a IDC extension harness so that I didn't have to cut any wires.

#120 11 years ago

Removed the Helicarrier plastic and removed the upper portion of the plastic that it is riveted to so I could still use the top. covered the holes so the steel on the diverter is not visible from the top. Used black electrical tape on the underside and hides it well IMO.

photo_b4.JPGphoto_b4.JPG Extended the bracket about 3/4" so that it covered the coil well b.JPGb.JPG

#121 11 years ago

Sight line is MUCH better and like how it covers the coil with the original plastic still on the top

Did not like the look of the right empty plastic with the exposed notches although the view of the target was perfect now. So, had to come up with something. Liked the look of the Loki figure Big Law posted a lot but not sure if i want Loki there yet. So enter Nick Fury...

photo_3.JPGphoto_3.JPG
I have him turned some so the view is open. Also positioned him so his gun points to his targetphoto_5.JPGphoto_5.JPG
Also had to shave about 1/8" off his boots for fit.photo_4.JPGphoto_4.JPG

#123 11 years ago

Nice work Zd....def looks the way to go.

#124 11 years ago

Looks great! where did you get the IDC connector from that fits that extension. would love to move my loki as well : ) can you link me to where to purchase? Nick Fury looks much better there.

#125 11 years ago

just checked I think I have a connector that size, going to try this out looks way better. adds better sight lines to nick and IM shots

#126 11 years ago

Had them already. Re-used the originals for the location near the Loki plastic. They are the smaller size and are 5 pin (although they only use 4 wire slots). Used 4 pin IDC in the more common larger size that I already had and a z connector I also had to make the other end of the harness. I got my IDC connectors from Pinball life and also got there IDC tool. I'd reccomend the tool. Its cheap and much easier than trying to use something not intended for it. I think they have a set of a bunch of sizes that's pretty reasonable also. I use those connectors alot when I add things so I can disconnect them easily. Also like tapping power from IDC's so I don't have to cut a wire if I can avoid it...

#127 11 years ago

a hulk's fist shooter rod would be cool

#129 11 years ago

I like to have special key chains for all my pins so I can tell the keys apart. These just arrived in the mail today:

Seriously, those were $50? Wow.

Individually, those figures Biglaw used are $9.99 a piece and some like Nick Fury and Black Widow are hard to find.

#133 11 years ago

I did see 5 sets last week at my local Target but I would not be surprised if they don't get anymore.

#134 11 years ago

Just a little update.
Should have pictures of two style pop caps end of next week.
Will do a poll...winner gets produced....well maybe both....we will see what demand is.
Loki mod will be out Feb 1 if it all falls in place (3d) March 1 if not.
Thor will be later say March 1.
Cube should be March 1 also 12v 8 leds.

Awesome! Looking forward to what you came up with. I'm sure it will be good.

After I finish my AC/DC Band Members Mod.... Avengers is on my list... I am planning on adding some lighting effects to this machine, but I need to get my hands on one for prototyping so if anyone is near me and wants to help out please send me a PM..... Also, I am working with a local Stern Distributor about getting a machine, but he did not order any LEs and hopefully he will get some premium machines... I contacted my LED supplier and found out they are producing Green and Orange LED. I placed my order with them and I should have them soon. I think a Green LEDs throughout this machine would look sweet... I can not wait to prototype one.

I have an idea for a mod but not sure if it is feasible just need some one with electrical knowledge to be inventive. This mod if possible could be used in all sterns and Bally's etc.

Here is the concept
- a bulb replacement with a mini circuit board that has a super bright rgb led and 3 pin dip switch and a voltage adjuster. The concept is that you take out a older bulb fixture and then screw in this mini circuit board, your control / power wires come in and the 3 dip switch gives you 6 options and each option is a colour selection which links to the voltage adjuster which in turn links to the rgb led. My poor understanding is that the colours are delivered via slight voltage changes. This mod would allow for some cool colours and at a flick of a dip switch you could change the colours of you game so much easier.

I think this is how the Avengers le's are doing the lighting.

So any electronic specialists able to be inventive and this could be cool for lots of pins and there could be a addition component added that bypasses the dip switch for the guys using p-roc to be able to get lots of colour options.

What are your thoughts,

is it possible,

and would you buy it,

I have virtually no clue about electronics, but if what you are saying is accurate, it would be really cool. I wonder if this topic deserves its own thread, so that you get a broader response?

#140 11 years ago

New seperate topic started - hopefully someone can determine if possible and could be a nice little business.

Took some video of my game. Shows what I've done so far with the cube, the relocated Loki lock lights and some placement of the figures. Cube is wired to a spotlight and I put a diamond dust finish on it. Looks good IMO. Still playing with different finishes on it. The spotlight is concealed well and the 12v flasher gives a great effect.

#143 11 years ago

Wow, yes please

#145 11 years ago

Just posted these to get feed back

Looks great much better. with the original the lower cap hole is to small to get any other LED to fit. really hate those single led bulbs as they look cheap. This shield cap looks great!

#146 11 years ago

looking good hooked.

Thx for posting the instruction cards they are Awesome!!
