Pops rerun as single cast chromed shields.
hookedonpinball.com

3-8-13
Updated: now in production email me at [email protected] for info.

***** see below for pictures and reviews*****.

If you have an opinion please post.

After kit is installed all 3 caps will look like this one pictured, no domes on any caps.
All kits will include one red one blue led for the center of the two rear pops

Option two:
New pop cap plastics with Metal overlay $55

Option three:
Lastly metal overlay kit (as shown) back two cap domes will have to be disassembled
and reassembled reuse your current plastic as a base. $43
(Just FYI the ramp comes off after removing three screws....quick and easy.)

whichever lets me just add them on top without major work. These are awesome!!

#3 11 years ago

I like the look of these, but I don't understand what your options are.

Keep in mind I don't have an Avengers (so I won't be buying any), but I think your description of each selections should be clearer. Pictures of each option would also be nice.

I know one of the first things that grabbed me about Avengers is why did they put a red and blue dome on the 2 pops that can barely bee seen and not put a dome on the one that is actually visible?

Good luck with the mod. The option you have pictured is already a big improvement over the originals.

I found out today the right ramp removes with three screws. 10 min tops to install this kit.

#5 11 years ago

I think the only pop bumper that needs a mod is the lowest one that is plain.

I agree that the descriptions are not clear for each mod you presented and it would also help to have pictures of each including a parts list or pictures.
Can you do a mod that is for only the lowest pop bumper also? Thanks

It does look good from the picture.

#6 11 years ago

Also, for the top two pop bumper plastics, what are the rivets for on the original plastics?

#7 11 years ago

Id want mine made out of Vibranium otherwise why bother?

Center Domes for the back two pop plastics. Front one has no rivets.

So my redesign will be just like the lowest pop with Captain Americas shield as shown in the picture.

Unsure how to make it more clear.

Options as follows:
1. I make new plastic caps then cover with a art (printed).
2. I make new plastic caps then cover with a metal art.
3. Customer reuses factory caps and install metal art.
On option 3 the installer will have to drill out the rivets for the domes on the back two cap plastics.
Then install the kit and new LEDs.

Thanks for clearing it up. So it would appear that option 2 would be the best quality and looks and avoid damaging any original parts/plastics. Correct? If so, I would go with that Option 2 then.

Option 1 sounds like less quality so I would not want to go that route, and option 3 requires messing up the original which I prefer not to do with mods.

I don't get it either but I will pay you whatever for the easiest to install that is the best

Option 2 would be 3 shield discs that mount on the pop bumpers and he would include a colored LED for the two upper pop bumpers to match the existing colored domes that will be removed.

It sounds like a 10 minute install for the mod, especially since he said that the right pop bumper can be accessed by removing threw screws on the ramp that is over it.

#13 11 years ago

Option 1 or 2 would work for me and I'd definitely want a set. I'd rather keep the originals in tact if possible.

#14 11 years ago

I'm in for option 2!

#15 11 years ago

Also note that Option 1 is just a plastic with a decal whereas option 2 is a plastic with metal overlays which must look a lot better than a decal.

Option 2 all the way!

I want one.

#16 11 years ago

Option 2. But I am not sure I want all three to look exactly the same.

#17 11 years ago

I'm changing to straight option 2. I'd rather spend more and have the metal overlay.

That was my thought too. I like Mods that can be put back to the original if needed / wanted.
I'll let the poll run till the morning and order parts.

Few have asked for a single pop so I am working that option too.
Basically it would be just like the picture and install in a few turns of a screw driver.

The best answer I can give is because they are idiots. That is easily the easiest to see pop bumper cap of the 3...so they decide to dress up the 2 that are hidden and make the 1 visible one ugly with a bulb sticking out of the top.

I can hear it now: "3 Captain America pop bumpers. Lets make 1 dome red, 1 dome blue...and heck...I can't think what would be another good color to go with Captain America....so we will just let the bulb stick out of the one you can actually see. That's good enough."

That was the first thing I noticed when looking at the machine and the perfect example of what a crappy job Stern does on things that should be a no-brainier.

Thor is next - parts on order.
Two other AV projects under way just keeping quiet.
Also ACDC ramp project is moving along now and looks great.
