You might well be correct. I don't normally bother with mods but as you say the sound package is superb.

Pro. Not many LE's made it over to this side of the pond.

About time you added a good Stern to your lineup

Seriously though awesome purchase quite a rare game here in the U.K so a great game to have in the lineup and it will compliment your other Sterns nicely!

I have the upgraded speakers &&& the external powered sub and it REALLY rocks.

I knew of one (my old LE) but I heard it got sold to Europe. And there is my NIB LE, it would be cool to know how many LEs are in the UK though.

Yeah Jon was lucky but he had to drive to Germany to get his. But boy is he happy.

Yeah that was one long drive, slept like a baby when I got home, but it was so worth it! Just need to finish off my renovation work now so I can unbox her along with the rest of my new lineup

wait wait wait, so you have 4 nibs just waiting to be unboxed (star trek le, walking dead le? avatar le and batman 66 le). I bet the temptation to have a peek is high.

Yeah it's not easy I think about opening them daily but then I walk into my house that I'm renovating, rip another wall down and create an inch of dust, re wire and plumb, board up replaster, paint and remind myself that the kids might be okay here but this is no place for my pins

Yep pretty much, basically lost my entire collection about 6 years ago due to a breakup where I had to fix a huge financial mess my ex left for me and my kids, took years to sort out and catch up but finally last year was in a position to get back some of the games I lost, got a couple great deals on old NIB games just collecting dust in warehouses around the world brought an IM from the US, Avatar LE from Germany, STLE from here in UK.

I did have a BDK but BM66 offered up all the things I wished BDK had so decided I would treat myself after going without for the last 6 years

At present it's half bare brick and half fresh plaster currently drying...... very slowly with this crappy weather we are having at the moment, just need some warm sun, c'mon England!

So not much to show at the moment, Sterns stand where they debut BM66 & Aerosmith together did inspire me, loved the wireform/habitrail suspended from the ceiling and the flipper bat shaped tables so when the wallet allows for those flamboyant extras I plan on doing something like that as finishing touches.

My journey was a bit shorter. Leeds to Lincoln and back. I was in Lincoln anyway to see a snooker exhibition so it couldn't have worked out any better.

Once finished and this is approx at the moment as I have to allow for plenty of garden and a huge area for the kids to have their 12ft trampoline and jungle gym assault course in the garden

But I'm hoping to get at least 3m high, 8m in length and about 4m wide - not huge but not bad for England we are not blessed with as much space and land as you lucky guys are over the pond.

That's not bad, 8 games with some walk space behind and some small 2 seater tall tables and stools. Your gonna have fun with that tall ceiling, toppers and what not. I hope the room entrance is on an end.

Thanks Paul, it may end up being slightly bigger depending what I do with the adjoining wall, but 8 games is a nice sized lineup I would be more than happy with, plus if Heighway can get Alien and games #3 and #4 out the door I will be taking advantage of their swappable system if the games are good.

Yeah the door will be on one wall opposite the games plus one end will have bi fold doors that will allow me to open the games room up to the entire garden and allow people to flow in and out of both spaces.

As for the ceiling it was this Stern display that inspired my suspended wireforms that will hold my game room lighting once the wallet allows for little flamboyant finishing touches.

How about making that door a double sliding pocket door, easy to get games and stuff in and out, the doors take up no room when opened and when both are opened it makes the gameroom feel bigger. Your gonna have a great space.

#1225 6 years ago

Well I got to Final Battle and utterly fluffed it. Not a single jackpot. As Steve Ritchie would say, 'play better'.

The bi fold doors are a compromise with my good lady so they have to stay, to be fair its a pretty good compromise so I haven't resisted

A friend of mine owns his own glazing company and recently did some bi folds for a couple that opened and then pivoted 90 degrees and where then able to slide and be hidden in the wall/door reveal which is pretty sweet but that's one of those flamboyant luxouries that will come later if at all, I am not opposed to standard bi folds plus they will open the games room up and allow the garden and games room to flow together nicely when family and friends are round, which is what pinball is all about at our house

Well that's just showing off!!

I made it to Final Battle only like "twice" when I had my original LE which I owned for over a year, getting Navi multiball was always my downfall and on both occasions I messed up Final Battle within like two or three shots

Would love to someday be able to add some animations to Final Battle, hopefully Pinball Browser one day develops enough to be able to do that, would love nothing more than to see the Wizard Mode finished off with some nice audio and animation.

Are you talking about the doors leading to the outside? I was talking about the door on the inside of the house leading to the gameroom.

The fluro pinbits protectors came through the week, extremely quickl shipping from the stars to here in Australia,10/10 service an must say what a fantastic mod, really takes the machine to another level, highly recommend if anyone is thinking about it,really looks fantastic.

#1232 6 years ago

Can you post a few pictures of the protectors installed. Thanks

Clear rubbers and cool white GI LEDs really brighten up the area around the flippers. The LEDs also seem to really enhance the artwork for some reason. Photo looks a tad blurry, tap on it to see the true resolution.

Mods ordered - Color Dmd, pinbits neon plastic protectors, pinball bulbs led kit, blue start button, tilt graphics side blades, speaker lights and acrylics and a shaker motor.

Looks great stop! Avatar like most games really suits white GI and with white/clear rubbers it makes it really pops! Congrats on the beautiful game!

Hi all! I temporarily traded sopranos for avatar and am looking to fix the wiring to the backbox tube which was cut at some point. Pictures are attached.. it looks like the red wire and black/white are usually tied inside an electrical twist connector that is missing. Can anyone verify that? Than it appears I just have a black wire coming from the top ballast that is cut .. where is it supposed to go?

(Pics might be too dark, I can take more if needed..)
Thanks!!

I didn't have much of an opinion on Avatar, as I'd only played a few games on it... until yesterday.

I had an absolute blast playing it on location at New York, New York casino in Vegas.

If anybody wants to play a VERY nice example, this location has a great lineup of modern Sterns. I probably put 15 games on Avatar, as all the other titles were ones I either own, or have easy access to.

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a nice one. Shot of the lineup below.

Le has a powerball like TZ that gives double scoring I believe.

Translites are the same on the Pro & LE.

LE differences are:
• Chrome trim
• Motorised Link Pod
• Stomping AMP suit legs
• Colonel figure in AMP suit
• Navi figures above Navi targets
• Banshee figure above ramp
• Extra GI & lighting effects
• Extra Hardcoat on playfield
• Metal apron with flasher windows
• Proper support rails (instead of those silly legs!)
• Ceramic ball with sensor that activates double/Navi scoring
• Additional rules, callouts, sounds and animations associated with the ceramic ball

Think that's it, might have missed something but think I covered them. mostly cosmetic but the extra hardcoat, GI, support rails and the ceramic ball with the little extras to the rules/code it adds are well worth it imo.

Good luck with your search, they don't come up very often. If you do find one leds in the inserts and gi are a must but for the inserts you'll need an OCD board for the inserts to fade properly. I have it in my LE and they fade beautifully. Scan the back pages for an idea of the mods we've done to our games.

Paul now does OCD compare to a non ghosting led like the non ghosting comets? I hear they are one of if not the best led on the market.

#1245 6 years ago

Has anybody ever tried a ceramic ball in the pro version? Sure, no double scoring but might be pretty fun anyway.

I don't know, never tried them in this game. I have the white 2 smd clear dome regulars in my game with the OCD and it's beautiful right out of the box with no tweaking. The clear dome bulbs really let the insert facets sparkle like a new Stern game. It's a must for this game and NASCAR if you have it.

Wow. Thanks for the detailed response! The game seemed to be confused about which was the Navi Ball. Other than that, it played great.

Hey everyone! Just joined the club today. Bought a pro off a couple who got the machine brand new in 2011 and hadn't done any work to it. I need to replace the rubbers and I've heard good things about Titan rubbers. They don't sell a kit for it but has anyone here bought rubbers from them? If so could you send me what to buy? It looks like I need to track down a spring fix as my machine doesn't have one. I'd also love some LED suggestions as well as any playfield cleaning suggestions. Lots of dirt on the playfield and Mylar. Thanks guys!

#1249 6 years ago

Hi Joe, Welcome to the club. A true one owner game, to bad they didn't keep it clean. I can't help with the rubbers or the spring sorry. For cleaning Novis 1 and 2 work great, forget about 3 it's way to abrasive. When you led it I suggest Comets frosted white dome for the GI and their 2 smd white clear dome for the inserts, with the underside of the inserts cleaned (you will have to clean them since no cleaning has been done by the original owners) the facets of the inserts will sparkle like a new Stern game. An OCD board is a must with this game, the inserts will fade off and on beautifully then, with out it they look like crap. An external powered sub woofer is a must also. I added 4 double spot lights from Pinballbulbs which really lights up the pf nicely and put a Comet purple 7 led strip in the center drain which lights up the flipper area really nicely. My and beatmasters mods light up the front of the cabinet beautifully also. Go through the back pages of the thread to see what all we have done to our games for ideas. Enjoy.
