Got my IMAX 3D tickets.
Was Avatar the "perfect" movie? No. I was not happy with the plotline of people/military of the future going to other worlds and wiping out a race of people. They just made them too human-like and intelligent. If the race was some lower form....even monkey-like or insect-like it would have been better for me. But to have them look so human and .....well, you know. Hard to believe in the future we would be so callus and have obviously learned nothing. But BESIDES all of this, the movie was a refreshing blast of 3D fun. The flying scenes and floating mountains were breathtaking. So, I'm in for the ride.
It's amazing about 3D. They say it's dead, but many of the bigger movies are still released in it. They don't sell 3D in the States anymore, so now we have to get our 3D Blu-Rays from the UK or Aus. So instead of paying $30 we have to pay $80 to $100 plus! And many times you can't even get them because they sell out so fast. I love the 3D format and have almost every 3D movie made for my home set up.
Bottom line is I'm looking forward to Avatar 2, 3, 4 and five!

Quoted from curban:

Aren't we getting fed up with spectacle?

Hell no!

As was the first one....fun, with outstanding 3D CGI. Lost a little bit of the wow factor, but still everything looked great. I've always had a problem with the plot, but learned to just go on the ride. I just hope we won't be so stupid in the future.... why they send these nut jobs to a planet they want to relocate the human race to is anybodys guess.
A few more jump scares this time and I actually saw a guy lose his popcorn....
Even with a few flaws, I'll still be there for the next one...3D Glasses in hand....

Quoted from NY2Colorado:

True story, Sigourney Weaver and some of the cast spent a year training how to hold their breath underwater. She was able to hold it for 6.5 minutes.

Yes, but with added oxygen solution thingy. I watched the Making of and they said it wasn't just take a gulp of air and hold it for 6 minutes. That would be world class. Great publicity though....

Oh gee...2 billion will be no problem. It already made over a billion and is not done with theatrical yet. Then there is cable, streaming, blu-ray, etc...the one person I'm not worried about is Jim!
