The purpose of this thread is to list unclaimed Cactus Canyon Collector's Edition Plaques that others may have available for sale (or not!). It's a fair assumption that many of these plaques were lost, thrown away, etc. however for the ones that weren't, it would be great to list them here so they may find their respective machines.

If you have any plaques and would like to help them find their home, please post or pm me their numbers and I'll add them to the list below.

Please register your Cactus Canyon on the Internet Pinball Serial Number Database!

  • Main
  • Registration
  • Once registered, please add your plaque number(s) under the 'Game Traits' tab

General Information:

  • History
  • Planetary Pinball Supply, Inc. owns the rights to these plaques and they should not be reproduced without their approval.
  • The last 3 digits of the game's serial number represents it's plaque number.
  • If you sell or buy a plaque, please let me know so I can update this list.
  • If you find your matching plaque, post a victory message!

I'm now listing those seeking plaques as well; I might as well do this right!

#11 8 years ago

I've updated the names listed to be hyperlinks to message the owner/seeker and changed the title to something less specific to only owners of plaques.

#16 8 years ago
Quoted from volkdrive:

How do you figure out which machine you have? Assuming it's tied to the serial # of course...

It is the last 3 digits of the serial number.

#18 8 years ago
Quoted from Cursed:

Do you have 59?

According to superfluxshop.de (link in first post), they have this plaque.

#21 8 years ago

I've scoured the interwebs and, under the new 'last known locations' section, have listed all plaques I could find that were attached to the wrong game at some point.

I've also listed all numbers Superfluxshop.de claims to have so the searching folk may find this thread a little easier.

#26 8 years ago
Quoted from blubboman:

I have #519 (take it off the other list!) and looking for #449.

Awesome! Done and done.

Quoted from thepinballworks:

To bad that CC owner list was last updated 10/3/04.

Agreed, but we've got to start somewhere I suppose. At the very least, it's helped track down plaque 519!

#28 8 years ago

Added a few more stragglers.

#33 8 years ago
Quoted from inhomearcades:

Does anyone know where the gap in serial numbers was? If they only made 925 games and I have 945, they must have skipped some numbers right?

Ah, right, that didn't even register when I added you to the list. I don't believe any plaques were made past 925.

To support that, here is an excerpt from the 'History' link in the first post:

Each plaque was individually numbered from 1 through to 925 as that was the planned production run.

#36 8 years ago
Quoted from Starwriter:

Call me insensitive, but why is it so important to have the exact matching plaque? None of your friends are going to look at the serial# stickers and say, "eeewww, this game sucks. It has the wrong plaque on it". Sure, down the road, if you sell it, some low baller is going to bitch about the mismatch. Tell him to get the F*** out of your house.
This isn't like a car registered with DMV. If it's that important, why not just reprint the serial# stickers and stop worrying about it.

I can't speak for others, but for me it's just a completionist thing. I truly enjoy this game, have many hours spent playing/working on it, and I don't have any intentions of selling it.

I honestly never consider what others will think regarding my machines. I just enjoy the hobby. To me it's important for them to be as complete as possible and if there is a one-of-kind plaque floating around out there that matches literally only my machine, I'd like to have it.

I'm also not in this hobby for resale. I don't make it a rule to over pay for games, but I also realize that the time and money I put in is likely never to be returned.

Regarding reproduction: I'm not against this and, in fact, am in the process of having one reproduced as well as reproducing one myself from an existing plaque (for funsies). That being said, if the original were to show up, I would most definitely want to purchase it, regardless of already having a reproduction.

Quoted from Ed_in_Texas:

I have #109, so if SuperFluxShop has it, one of us has a doppelgänger.
image_(resized).jpeg

Interesting! It's worth noting that SuperFluxShop's list hasn't been updated in years (I've added the date to the original post). I have also heard that some reproductions were made at some point.

It might be worth contacting SuperFluxShop to see if they also claim to have your plaque. From what I understand, they have the plaques mentioned in the 'History' link above where 300 of them were recovered from the trash. So I would assume if they have your plaque, that would be the authentic one.

Also, as a side note, the plaques did come with gold screws and were meant to be mounted on the front by the lower right leg (as seen below). I'm sure whoever mounted yours simply didn't want it to be stolen and didn't necessarily care and/or know where it was 'supposed' to be mounted; hence the screws and location. That being said, I actually prefer where yours is mounted as it doesn't obstruct the artwork.

Quoted from inhomearcades:

Damn it, I have a red headed step child CC. I will likely just have one 3d printed. Seems easiest to me. As for the search for an original, I will keep my eyes open but if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. The weird thing about my game is that it had a plaque on it at one point because there are four screw holes where it should have been located. Likely some idiot on the street stole it.

Actually this sort of makes your game the rarest of them all. Of all the machines made, most had a plaque made for them, few have their matching plaque, and even fewer never had a plaque made for them at all!

What's interesting is that, according to the IPDB here, there are a confirmed 903 units ever produced. I'm curious which serial numbers never saw the light of day and for what reason.

#42 8 years ago
Quoted from pindoc1:

Looking for 512

Your plaque number is listed in the 'Last known locations' section. It appears it was last recorded as being attached to game #868. Granted, the last time the site owner updated the list was 10/3/04!

I've pm'd you the contact information of the last known owner; good luck!

#45 8 years ago
Quoted from swinks:

I was going to do a file and make it available on shapeways in a gold plated metal and would be a much cheaper option, already started but never got feedback on another thread so stopped. Shapeways has the ability where each customer can custom add their own serial number.

I've began working with toyotaboy to do exactly this. I didn't realized you had been working on making one as well. I'll shoot you a pm.

#48 8 years ago
Quoted from BackAlleyMatt:

I can easily recast these off an original and fill in the number, from there people would just need to stamp in there number on the plate. I can make the mold in a day and have plates the next day.
So if I can help save everyone time and "Help" not steal this away from you guys, lmk

Thanks, Matt! I'll shoot you a message as well to loop you in on things.

Quoted from BackAlleyMatt:

Only concern, copyright issues. Anyone know the details on who has the rights on the plates....Rick?

Thank you for bringing this up. I've sent Rick an e-mail as a starting point to look into this.

#50 8 years ago
Quoted from pindoc1:

Years ago, I took an image off eBay, added my number and made apron cards for my game.
I have to reprint the one. I spilled a drop of Novus1 on it.

image_(resized).jpegimage_(resized).jpeg

That looks great! I like your apron cards in general; nice work!

Quoted from NoMonkey:

Thanks, Matt! I'll shoot you a message as well to loop you in on things.

Thank you for bringing this up. I've sent Rick an e-mail as a starting point to look into this.

So yes, Rick owns the rights and has asked that no reproductions be made that are not officially licensed. I've updated the first post to reflect this information.

A bump for all the believers.

#57 7 years ago

Our friendly neighborhood Swinks has created a new product just for us!

Check it out: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/cactus-canyon-serial-number-pinball-plunger-plate

This provides a nice, cheap alternative for showing off our serial numbers while we continue the search for our respective plaques.

Even if you don't purchase one, please be sure to voice your appreciation. He went out of his way to help fill a void here without even being asked!

#66 7 years ago
Quoted from aeneas:

Ballypinball posted here a while ago - that the company who originally made them still has the molds for them.
Can you ask Rick (as he got in touch with you) if he has actual plans of producing them again ?

I had asked Rick if he had any production records for the plaques and he basically said he doubted there was anything available as it was a promotional item. I've since asked if he knew who was responsible for producing the plaques and am awaiting a reply.

There are other avenues for having these made, as a licensed product, that I'm exploring. The goal would be to make something cost effective (lower than the current market value at least) that was as close of a match as possible to the originals.

If anyone thinks they might be interested in a licensed reproduction plaque, please let me know. A show of hands would help here to see if this would be a worthwhile endeavor.

Thanks!

Ballypinball does have the original records of who manufactured parts for Wms.
So Rick has to ask him for the contact info, hope they still have the tooling and just order a new batch.

Awesome; thanks for this information, Aeneas! I'll get in touch with Ballypinball to see where things stand.

#73 7 years ago
Quoted from Ballypinball:

Yes this is correct Info sent to Rick Today

I've received confirmation from Rick that he has the information provided by ballyparts and is looking into what options are available. I'll keep you guys posted with any updates.

#75 7 years ago
Quoted from sbmania:

Can anyone explain how if there were only 925 CC's made, some have serial numbers over 925? Mine, for instance, is 931. How would the plaque read? 931 of 925? Wouldn't that look kind of funny?

What's even more interesting about this is that there are only 903 confirmed units according to ipdb.

#77 7 years ago
Quoted from Coyote:

From what I heard from someone (Ted Estes, maybe? Or Cameron Silver? .. hell, I can't remember).. they planned to make 925. And they did. But then they had parts left over and made more games out of it. I cannot say what the hell IPDB's numbers are from, though..

I wonder if maybe they stopped production at 903 to start Pinball 2000 then had enough for 50 or so more games after the fact?

Your number is listed in the 'last known locations' section and appears to have been owned by a gentleman named Stephan Hoppe. I did a quick search and found what I believe is his website. Here is a link to the contact form: http://www.vegasstore.de/kontakt

Good luck!

Saloon Doors Bump

#102 7 years ago

I spoke with Rick yesterday and, per his request, I've created a new thread to gauge interest on both the reproduction of the plaques and the saloon doors, found here:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/gauging-interest-cc-collectors-plate-and-saloon-doors

I think Jady has some valid concerns here which I will inquire about.

Quoted from aeneas:

Spoke to Rick about these and he's able to repro them but needs to know the numbers before they get produced (because they get plated afterwards).
Seems he's not sure if there's enough demand for them ?

I started a thread regarding this and the saloon doors a while back but received just about zero interest. Rick has recently commented on there: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/gauging-interest-cc-collectors-plate-and-saloon-doors#post-3721504
