So I am getting my first machine tomorrow (LW3) and I have a lead on a second machine. Austin Powers. I have to admit I am a fan of the movies, and this machine looks really cool. Anyone have it. What is a good price on a working but used machine? Is it fun, is it a lot of work. Anything I should look for?

Fun machine if you are fan of the movies. I guess I need to understand the rules a bit better. I have seen them go for about $1700 on average. and I have seen them in almost perfect shape with LEDs for about $2400. These Prices are from San Diego Ca.

It's fun and the audio package is good but the main complaint is that the code doesn't feel that complete (studio cut a bunch). It's a simple fan layout game so it's also usually criticized of feeling easy. It's all preference

I think AP is somewhat underrated. It's not deep at all, but it's kind of fun and ties the theme in very well. You almost never see them come up for sale around here. Did they not make a lot of these?

i've never played it..love the trilogy though. was looking at itl;

take a look;

low ratings, but that really doens't matter if you enjoy it.

If you are a fan of AP and plan on having this pin in your
collection for a long time then i say go for it and the prices that
i have seen are pretty reasonable.

IMO, this machine is a great example of why people hate on Stern. Feels thrown together and cheap, and the one gimmick, the laser cannon, is unreliable and not well used. It's impressive how you can take a similar fan layout, and make really good machines out of it like MM and AFM, or really disappointing machines like AP.

I didn't like the movies much, so the theme annoys me as well (come on, a mode started by shooting a toilet, with sounds to match? Grow up!)

the one gimmick

I wouldn't say it's the only one (spinning time portal disc, dr. evil rising from playfield, dancing austin) but I do get your point. You'd definitely have to like the movies to like this game.

Oh ya, the rising Dr. Evil. How did I forget about that?
It's been a while since I played that one.

+1 on that. It is a shame as I love the films

I much prefer LW3

It's interesting, because those two toys were both essentially re-used in later, much more popular games (LOTR and IM).

I would personally pass on Austin Powers. I like the movies, and the layout of the pin is similar to IM, but the feel to it is just not there. In fact, it has the worst feel to a pin I've ever played. And if you are wondering, if played two different AP pins, so it's not like I just played a dud that was setup incorrectly.

Yeah I just don't get it either as the one that I played was mint and in someones collection. It just didn't fire me up at all.
